Well made it threw the first week at prime. A lot of computer based training some simulation drives and test. This week a lot of pad time and local drives with in house trainers . Now on the road tomorrow to head out for a few days They are telling me I will be testing Monday for my cdl. Has been a great place to be . Anyone coming here be prepared put in hard work keep your brain on the prize it will pay off you get what you put in. I have guys that started with me and are still at the yard struggling. I study a lot get up and get to the terminal as early as I can get there on the pad working with trainers all day and when they have other stuff to do I stand off to the side and watch other people trying to get as much out of this as I can. Can’t wait to see where this journey goes from here.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Day one the road I drove 356 miles and my trainer drove 265. The right seat is boring. Would rather be the driving but being the new guy I get it . I had to run threw rain , construction, traffic jams , and holiday traffic. My trainer said I did great and he was very happy with me. Very happy with day one hopefully I can log more miles today then yesterday.
