I stand corrected. Exceptions do exist. I also know someone personally who tried shaving everything. Did not get hired.

Well - if you show up as smooth as a newborn - and your drivers license photo shows you with a full head of hair, they might think something was up. WHEN (because it's not really a question of IF) hair testing becomes a DOT Acceptable Method of testing, showing up with no hair to test (similar with showing up unable to produce enough urine for a test) will go down as a REFUSAL TO TEST.

But we still stand by the standard answer - if it's even REMOTELY QUESTIONABLE that you are going to fail ANY DRUG SCREEN - DON'T GO IN FOR ONE until you are SURE YOU CAN PASS.

We had the guy recently - with the crackhead wife, claiming he failed with a coke dirty from saliva transfer. While REMOTELY POSSIBLE as an avenue of exposure, and he would be the one in a million that can claim an unjustified failure - pretty much everyone else that rolls through here KNOWS WHY THEY FAILED.

Rick

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Not having enough hair will be an automatic fail.

Essentially speculative. When my husband drove for USX back in ... (heck between 03 and 05?) A gentleman who had alopecia (aurealis or something) got hired on with a few (maybe many?) blood tests.... and a few randoms.

Last contact they had was in 09 and he was still there.

I bet Brett actually knows Bo. To our knowledge, that was his first name.

A medical exception is one thing, but I was told I needed 1 to 1 1/2 inches of hair. Ended up growing a beard because my hair simply wasn't growing fast enough. If I didn't have enough to test, I would not have been hired.

Unless I enlist help to shave my back, I'm good on this one!

As I keep my head buzzed, function not fashion. I'm suffering this Florida heat until it's long enough.
