Honestly I found California in general to be mildly aggravating-- but anytime you're playing in the Los Angeles Basin you'll want to tack on between 1.5 and 2x your usual time estimate to get around locations, and close to the same if you're ever in the Bay Area. Other than that... just trip plan like normal. One thing I'll give Cali is it's not short on places to park trucks.

Well I've been working since end of April. Originally I was told I'd be given the Salt Lake City route but its blown up lately as in its twice as big so the boss doesn't want to overwhelm me out the gate on my own. Now I'm going to be most likely give the route I did not want because it goes to Southern California. I have heard horror stories of driving down there. I will be hitting I5 South then heading west somewhere South to go to Scott's Valley. I have to deliver between like 8am and 4 PM. Does anyone know what the optimal time would be to travel Centralia WA area south and where to stay that would optimize my time and keep my HOS good? Hope that makes sense. I have to be back Thursday night or latest Friday Morning. Was hoping to leave Monday but that depends on the loaders.
TWIC:
Transportation Worker Identification Credential
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
HOS:
Hours Of Service
HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
