Turtle, you said you just updated apps before the Prime app stopped, right? If you updated the OS in addition, it's possible that update is causing the conflict and it's *almost* impossible to undo that. Would void manufacturer warranty to even try that option.
Had a problem like that before. I fixed it by switching to an iPhone. Haven’t had any problems since.

Good one! Hilarious! Did ya think of that one all by yourself? Cuz that's just so original and really helps my situation!
You should reinstall the operating system
Another culprit could be a corrupted SD card. Try using the SD card from your wife's phone.
Hey all and Turtle, Briefly, Iv'e been visiting this site for a couple of years now, still considering a career change to trucking. Computers and phone software is one of the things I do now. If things worked before and update then not after seems like something in that app group caused it. Did the Prime app update? You can check that on the Play Store page. It gives a list of recent updates. It's possible they dropped compatibility to older OS versions. Also in settings/apps, check the permissions settings for the Prime app. The list it needs is on the Play store page near the bottom. Permissions/ details. Make sure those match your phone. The app should tell you it needs something but it might not.
The s6 is an older phone and thus likely an older version of Android. Check that version in settings/about. I think 7 is what is on the S6 I checked the Play Store page and they don't list it but they say varies with device. That is suspect. Might be it's compatible with some but not others. I read a few of the reviews and to seems your issue happens to others.
You've done all the normal things to cure stuff save the flatline then restore. If you have backups of everything either cloud based or on a computer, the full erase is sometimes the fastest way out. Or if you can swing it get a newer phone. The programmers have to justify their existence so they keep making everything "better" The rouble is they assume everyone has they latest hardware or close. They often have to draw a line somewhere on how far back they can support. Hope this helps.

Actually - this happens on iPhones too - just not that often.
The main difference between iDevices and Android is - there are many different OS's and hardware/devices for Android, even the same version of OS is different between devices and there is little uniformity between devices.
Apple has ONE HARDWARE/ONE OPERATING SYSTEM. So the necessity to support everyone else's hardware is eliminated. They do this with Macs & everything else too. While most folks think this is some "evil empire plan" to control the world - the fact of the matter is, from a SUPPORT STANDPOINT - it's the PERFECT MODEL.
While Microsoft and others have to spend millions of $$'s and hours trying to make their OS's work with every "Tom Peter & Harry's" hardware, Apple only has to make their stuff work with THEIR STUFF.
Idevice developers also come out with and roll out updates way more often - and again, the app developers only have to deal with one OS and one piece of hardware.
In the case of employer specific apps - this goes the same way. And they likely spend way less time & $$ on compatibility issues.
Your next step towards a solution is going to be to WIPE YOUR DEVICE and start over. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR PHOTOS/ETC BACKED UP FIRST.
There is no guarantee this will solve the problem though, if the app just isn't compatible with the version of OS you're on.
Another troubleshooting step would be to contact the developer support and see if there are reported issues on that OS/device. How fast they FIX IT - is dependant on how many people are HAVING ISSUES.
I don't do Android support, for the very issues mentioned. I can grab 10 different devices from my user base, and every one has different settings and appearances.
When I deal with iPhones - everything is "same/same"...

Does your wife have a matching phone?
Sadly the fix is buying a newer android phone. S6 is just too old. Hardware doesn't and can't support an OS that works with the prime app. Sorry for the bad news. An S7 or newer will support it.

You did everything I would have done without seeing the phone on person its hard to say what else to try.
Have you tried contacting the developer? On the Play Store for the there should be contact info for who ever built the app for Prime.
