You can get pretty decent deal on a used Samsung 8 series phone. I bought mine used for 300.
Yes, OS Ver. 6.0.1 is what we were referring to. Three may have been an OTA update while charging (had a phone brick one time while sleeping due to that) and is now causing the conflict. If another app is the issue, it's conflicting after Prime attempts internet connectivity. You can attempt disabling other apps (social media, web browsers) that may be running a background process then attempt login again. Maybe a background killer will make this easier to pinpoint. Don't think it's an OS issue if the wife can run it on an older model though. Someone else mentioned available space, could be. I've seen it happen a couple times. Check out the available memory in phone, see how that looks. Hope something/someone gets you running right again.
1)Settings > Apps/App Manager. Select the App that you are having issues with. Tap on Clear Data and Clear Cache. Restart your phone.
2) Open your device's Settings app Settings app. Tap Apps & notifications. Tap the app. If you don't see it, first tap See all apps or App info. Tap Storage and then Clear storage or Clear data and then OK.
3) Boot into safe mode and remove the app, restart as normal and clear cache. Reinstall the app.
Good luck
And as for servers crashing that's IIS garbage not a Linux raw bone custom build problem. If all you know is web servers full install package please don't talk about serve stability and up time because mission critical servers are not a standard full install with 75% of the build being junk. You build out mission critical servers using custom modules and your own custom handlers all tied into the build. I would even choose glass fish over IIS and the RMI capabilities of Java on a distributed server architecture with load balancing is a thing of beauty?
It's not like you have one server in location A doing everything and if it crashes your dead this is not the year 2000.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Defiantly first thing I would try would be to clear the cache and remove the app, re-start your phone and try to install it again.
Ok, so just for closure I'll add an update:
I never did make it to a Samsung repair place, but I did have a couple of seemingly knowledgeable techie dudes look at it, and they were scratching their heads too. Finally, yesterday afternoon I backed up my stuff and wiped the phone with a factory reset. Started from scratch.
Everything works perfect now. I guess it was just a freak glitch.
Thanks again for the help.

Thank you all for the helpful replies. I'll try a couple more things later when I have time.
Every last app on the phone has been updated via the Play Store. All permissions are allowed.
Under settings/system/about device it says I'm running Android version 6.0.1
On the same page, there's a button to check for updates. After checking, it says my AT&T system software is up-to-date, no updates available. I assume that's my OS, correct?
I remember updating from that button some months or maybe even a year ago, and it was a lengthy update. I had to redo APN settings afterward to correct some messaging and internet issues. No problems since then.
My wife's phone is a different model, but older I think.
There's perhaps another clue:
After uninstalling and reinstalling the app, when I open the app it leads me to a login page with a Prime Inc header up top. I can enter my login/password info, click that I accept terms and conditions, then click the login box. Only then does it freeze and "stop working". From that point on I can never get back to the login page. It immediately freezes when I try to open the app.
Thanks for the continued help, you guys are awesome. I do see myself eventually going back to an iPhone. My last one gave me trouble free service until it finally got so old they wouldn't update it any more.
