This has turned into a great post. My "official" cpm is 40.5. However I have all sorts of ancillary pay plus a guarantee of $1325/week.
Looking at last week's pay stub ending 7/20 I have grossed $42,114. Only weekends I have worked are by choice and that is usually $265 for a 6 hr day. I have spent 39 nights in the sleeper and many of those were 1) take my 10. 2) drive 3 hours back to terminal. 3) Go home for 12+ hours before starting new trip. I rarely use more than 45 hours of my 70 before taking a 48+hr reset over the weekend.
I sometimes feel a little guilty how good I have it. Based on milage pay alone most drivers would not even look at this job.
Terminal:
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
CPM:
Cents Per Mile
Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.
HOS:
Hours Of Service
HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
