Wait until you are at Schneider, go out with the trainer, and you should be okay.
Save that money.
Thanks PackRat!
Sounds like a nice gig. Personally, I wouldn't sweat the refresher course then. It's kinda like riding a bike. Once you get it, you got it. But if it's something you want to do, there's nothing stopping you.
Thanks Turtle. So yes, no, maybe?
Yeah... I get the bicycle thing. Just that if you BARELY KNEW HOW TO RIDE ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE...
Marc, just saw your post. I totally agree with everybody else, if you want to waste $600 please let me send you a pre-addressed, postage paid envelope for you to send me a check! Lol.
Don't fret about Schneider's training. They are leaders in the industry for training; they cherry pick their trainers not only for their experience and skill, but also for their ability to be patient and teach. That's just my opinion and observation. I would think they would put you through their basic, starting course like I went through, but maybe you were told differently. Anyway, I really enjoyed my training up in the Frozen Tundra. You will be treated well and taught well. Just R-E-L-A-X.
They will probably put you in an auto tranny truck to train. If not, request one. Schneider will soon be all auto tranny and it takes a lot of pressure off of you when you do road training.
You knew enough to get your CDL. Schneider will get you the rest of the way.
Also, don't forget what happened with JBH. They didn't put any stock into that school you went to. Focus on giving Schneider what Schneider needs, and you'll be fine.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

I start next week at Schneider as well and all the advice I'm reading is really helping the nerves haha.
Erik S: What Training Academy are you scheduled to attend?
Schneider's course is pretty intense. What I mean is that they pack a lot into it. And they expect you to study their training manual after class in your motel room. My advice is to keep the TV off and buckle down to study your assigned material. It's a very critical several weeks in your life, so don't goof off. Get your sleep and bring your own coffee because the coffee from their vending machines tastes like swamp water. And don't drink soda, drink plenty of water especially in this hot weather. Good luck to you!
Save your money Marc. To be honest Schneider may even just put you through their 3 week orientation as if you were a brand new driver. I went through their training. It's a great program with great instructors.
Bruce K: I'm driving to the hotel in Gary, In tomorrow. Believe me, goofing off is that last thing on my mind. With it being shorter than other companies training period I'm going to try and absorb as much as I can.
