Well, my family and I have successfully made it back home and have found a house and settled down after a long road trip from NC to KY. I've kind of put trucking school to the back burner for the last week or so just so I can focus on moving in, unpacking, getting my daughter back to school etc. But I'm finally back on track and focused on schooling. Gonna go and talk to the school to morrow and get the process started. Hope its as good of a training program as I'm hoping it to be.

What school are you looking at? Are you looking at or are you going to a company that has it's on school?

Well, went CDL training services and consulting this afternoon. I have already touched base with them months ago when I was still in the marines, so my application and stuff has already been started and is in the system. I walked in and was instantly greeted by the recruiter and shook hands and sat down and spoke about the school and what it had to offer. It is not a flashy office building on the best block in town, but the professionalism of all the staff sold me for today. I have a hiccup with my GI bill, so he said he would contact the VA and get the paperwork started to help me get it changed over, I just need to bring my DD-214 in tomorrow. Need to get my Hawaii license switched to a Kentucky license, get my drivers report and my references and I should be good to go. Hopefully tomorrow brings good news on my GI bill. I wanna tour the facility tomorrow so hopefully I have the chance to do that.

Make sure you speak with some of their current students before making any decisions. It's easy for everyone in the office to smile and shake hands like politicians - they all do that. The question is how well will they train you and treat you once they have your money?

Speak with their current students, in private away from the staff, and find out how they like the school. That's the way to find out who you're really dealing with.

Everything is going good so far, looking at class start date of April 1st. Thing is, I still have an Hawaii drivers license and I have to get a Kentucky one, but its a 100$ fee if u haven't had it for more than 30 days. WTF is that crap, I mean thats damn robbery if u ask me. But it is what it is ya know, deal with it and move on. 3 students to a class, is that standard, I mean the school isn't huge and its not in a huge area so I understand.
