Thank you G-Town, Kearsey and everyone. Agree G that this isn’t about pay structure etc. more of where my fit for me is. Maybe my original post could have been worded better. Was trying to get more of what keeps you where you are.

In essence from what I have researched the big companies pay, benies etc usually balance out. We all tend to find that fit. And yes G-Town looking inside oneself, can I live this lifestyle, do I have the temperament, drive, am I a self starter?

My final decision was based on a couple changes in what I was originally told by recruiters. I won’t go into them. I will say that when you say let’s get the ball rolling sometimes things change.

Anyways I didn’t want to bring any discord between anyone. If I stirred that up I apologize. I’ve read post from everyone here in the different forums and respect you all. I am so glad that you share your experiences and knowledge it is a great help to us noobs. So Kearsey and G-Town kiss an make up. LOL.

I will keep you all updated. I really appreciate all of your advice. I’m so excited to be changing my career and beginning a new chapter in life.

Liz, you have all the right takeaways from this conversation. You can't go wrong at Prime, Swift, or any of the major carriers. They're all the elite companies in this nation and they all have great pay, great benefits, and all of the tools you could ever need to be happy and successful out there on the road.

You haven't caused any discord between anyone. In fact, what you've witnessed is the ultimate goal for us here at Trucking Truth. We want people to be so successful in this industry that they develop a passion for the company they work for. We hope people will choose one of the major carriers, dedicate themselves to becoming the best driver they can be, and do all they can to help make their companies successful. If you'll do that you'll make great money, you'll be treated with respect, and you'll develop a passion for the company you work for. That's exactly what our moderators have done. They're passionate about their companies. They'll promote them, defend them, and do their very best to help them succeed because they know they're a valuable part of a very impressive team.

You'll have a great chance of being in the same position they're in by following their simple formula for success:

  • Dedicate yourself to a minimum of one full year with your first company no matter what
  • Work really hard
  • Persevere through the tough times
  • Develop strong relationships within your company
  • Strive to master your trade
  • Learn how your company operates on the inside
  • Learn all you can about the trucking industry and how companies make a profit in this business

If you'll do those things you'll give yourself the very best chance at success. All of the moderators here understood that and made it happen. They are shining examples of the type of people that find success in this industry and the path you should follow. You sound like someone who is capable of finding that same level of happiness and success.

The next 6 - 12 months are going to be some of the most challenging and exciting of your life. You may have done some awesome things in your life, but never anything quite like this. We hope you'll stick with us and let us help you down that path.

Hi Liz...thanks for your concern. No worries about discord, no kissing required. I don't want to get punched,... I bruise easily, especially around the eye socket.

My approach and perspective is just different, not better or worse, but the passion, enthusiasm for the truth and attention to all of the important details is the common bond all of the moderators and seasoned drivers have on this forum. Fact of the matter is you arrived at the right place, you made a decision that best fits your needs. And we are all very happy about that.

Good luck!
