Look on the bright side. In a perfect world that could get you 77 more miles per your 11 hour limit.

I just read an interesting PDF File I received from Michelin. 54 pages worth of info. But what I was interested in what Max rated truck tire speed for Class A commercial vehicals. According to there testing and research they rate tires at 70 mph for Class A tires(Truck tires) as long as they are on approved surfaces and 95% of the roads in America are considered not safe for a 70 mph speed so far as tires are concerned.

Current road conditions on most road are at a max speed of 65 mph due to poor road surfaces.

So with that in mind why does everyone always want to go faster instead of being safer? Just baffling to me really.

I don't know why they even bother having speed limits around the loop in Atlanta. I lived there years ago and trucked through there for 15 years. If you're going under 80 you're being left behind in a big way! I can't think of a city in the country where people drive faster than in Atlanta. It's not that they're bad drivers. They just aren't worried too much about speed limits.

I'm in Texas now where the speed limit is 75. If there were and hills here I would have to put my flashers on. I'm stuck at 61 mph. Unless I'm loaded and going downhill. Then I could do 100 if I didn't use the engine brake.

61 mph!? You must be mashing the accelerator pretty hard in that big orange truck Richard! Glad to hear everything is working out for you. I loved driving through west Texas, beautiful open roads.

I've lived in Atl my whole life Brett so I know what you mean. I once got a ticket on the top end perimeter for doing 65 in a 55. Felt like I was gonna run over doing that speed. Found out later that Dekalb Co police were going on ticket strike the next day.

I'm in Houston now. Heading to Chattanooga tomorrow. I saw a sign that said El Paso 878 miles. It makes you realize how big this state is. I would love to go to west Texas or any of the western US. I really haven't seen much of the west and seeing the country is part of why I got into trucking. I am happy to be staying out of the frozen north for now.

Where are you?
