My Daughter asked me yesterday how I planned to handle this when I had something crack or break or fall out...:) Naturally I told her I had a plan in place for that but truthfully my plan was to post here and ask what the Trucking Veterans do.

If it can wait then you wait til home time but you can't wait always so the best thing to do is to communicate with your company and they will help you to a place to get help.

Worse case you call 911

Yeah, being sick or injured on the road is really tough. There really is no concrete plan. You just have to wing it at the time. Like Guyjax said - if you can wait to get home, you do. If you need 911, you call. But the major companies have decent health insurance plans and normally will give you a list of approved doctors nationwide. If you need to get checked out or get a prescription written or something your company can indeed point you in the right direction.

Alot of the truck stops also have what we call " Doc in a box". A dr. there that you can see, or get your DOT physical, or whatever....kinda nice. We even had one stitch up TSB and our truck dog after a pitbull attack....gotta love a doc like that !!

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
