Thanks everyone.. I've decided that I wont bother trying to attend school.. I am so afraid now that I will have a positive test, even after stopping, I don't even want to try. I thought I might be a decent candidate for driving, seeing I've never had an accident, and I haven't had a traffic ticket in over 30 years.. dang...

I kinda thought it might be a mistake to post here, I was hopeful, but now I'm too scared.

thanks again

You cant even have mouthwash with alcohol in it in your truck. Be sure you are clean.

For real? I keep a bottle of mouthwash in my truck. Probably has alcohol in it.

You will be a great candidate! Trucking companies will love you. Just get it off to a good start. Give it some more time. Make sure you can test clean. Then start applying to some Paid CDL Training Programs and see what happens.

  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Well, my mistake was doing weed, which is medicinal, nothing else.. Didn't even smoke it, just used tincture to help with anxiety and depression, but apparently used too frequently.. No more depression!! Maybe some day.. I filled out an application with Penmac.. Funny to have to do that after making over 65k a year, with the same company for 25 years and getting laid off. I can make 10 bucks an hour somewhere maybe. Have a great day all.

Please don't give up on trucking! It's just if one failed test goes down, your career is over before it starts. If your 40 days in, then you only need to wait 50 days. I know, it seems forever, but you'll get your chance. It would be awful if we said, "oh, don't worry, you'll be okay" then you get to school and they send you home and put a refusal for drug testing on your record🤢🤢😓. Start the countdown to 90 days! Don't shave your head, because they will take hair from other places that grow much slower!

Why do you think "it would be a mistake to post here"? Is it because you were not told what you wanted to hear? Listen to the experienced drivers here. They are trying to help you to not wreck a potential career before it even gets started.

How are the symptoms you were treating since you stopped using cannabis "cold turkey"?

It's kind of pointless to continue this thread.. Don thinks I just didn't hear what I wanted.. I asked a pretty specific question. I get that it is difficult to answer this question. As for symptoms from cold turkey? I'm not a drug addict. I have anxiety, it's caused by PTSD, or so I'm told; I'm not a doctor.. I have tried medical prescriptions, and those made me feel dead inside, and there are also side effects that have caused people to kill themselves, so I'm not a fan of those and I don't need to contribute to the opioid thing; so I am trying alternative therapies. Weed worked, really well, but can't use that and drive, I get it... My anxieties create difficulties working with other people face to face every day, which is probably why I was laid off; this is one of the reasons I thought driving might be good, I can be my own boss and I don't have to deal with people face to face all day.. But whatever, I can make my own way, and I will.. Yea, I will admit that hearing that home tests aren't accurate, and 6 to 9 months time for this stuff to leave my system (if that is even accurate) and all the other things have spooked me. I don't want to ruin something before it happens, but damn.. some people go through struggles others could never imagine; until it happens to them that is. Until you've walked a mile in someone else's shoes, and I do try to do that.. Have a great one!!

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Until you've walked a mile in someone else's shoes, and I do try to do that.

That door swings both ways my friend. You've never driven a mile in a loaded semi, and honestly your past service and the unfortunate outcome does not warrant any exception.

I have seen first-hand many times what can happen when someone makes a mistake out here. The consequences are life changing, even deadly. The grotesque "preventable" wrecks I have seen, will never be erased from my memory. Add the influence of a controlled substance, no matter how legal or legitimate it may be, compounds the difficulty of operating an 80,000lb truck at 65mph. Precarious is where it starts.

We are being honest with you, not judgmental. Wait the 90 days. Make sure you are able to function without smoking. Your anxiety issues will be challenged performing this job.

Sorry if this is difficult to accept. Any job that effects public safety (Mom & the Kiddies in the mini-van) has zero tolerance for use of any controlled substance.

We are all grateful for your service. Take the advice given, stripping away any personal emotion or offense it might create and... wait 90 days.

I’ve been waiting 6yrs for this man and I’m getting an opportunity I got a DWI 1 week before I was supposed to start truck driving school, 50 days is a way lesser time than 6yrs I’ve waited an waited and didn’t give up because I knew I brought it on myself I always knew that I wanted to do it man just keep doing what you do and those 50 days will go by so fast.
