Ernie, was a joke. We're all just kidding around here.
Guyjax, you went 125mph in a truck? Woah!
Back then it was not an uncommon sight. Desert in the middle of the night and no four wheelers. "Put'er in the big hole and gough on it..."
Like I said back in the day freight got to where it was going super fast. East coast/west coast turn around was very common back then even with solo drivers that used paper logs. Started on west coast drove across country and the next time you slept was back on the west coast.

You guys must have had a pair of cannonballs running at those speeds!

No not in Guyjax' time.
That was going on in Old Schools time.

Or rocks for brains. Seriously if I knew then what I know now there is no way I would have ever ran that fast. It was a dumb thing to do. 9 and straight 10 speeds are a relative new thing in truck in the grand scheme of things. Back then it was Super 10's ,13 speeds,15 speeds and 18 speeds. Torque was off the charts often over 2300 fpt. And there was no end to the rpm rev. Would go well over 2300 rim and that was without trying.
The truck i drove back then was a 15 speed double over drive with 272 rear ends and 550 horses Detroit with 2250 foot pounds of torque. Fuel mileage Sucked back then at an average of 3.5 to 4.5 mpg. But we did not care cause fuel only cost .98 a gallon. We thought 1.05 a gallon was to high.
Even out west now a days you will hardly ever see a truck doing more than 80 mph and that's usually trying to show off.,

Daniel,
I am very much aware that it was a joke. Not to worry, did not take it personal.

Ah GuyX, gotta love the time on the bennies. You old school drivers are a breed of truckers all on there own. You people are fearless. much respect. Although I do not approve of the drug use and excessive speeds I do wish the age where truckers had a brotherhood and followed a strict code of respect was still around but I guess it is long gone. I just wish the new generation of drivers wasn't in it for themselves.
When I first got my KW I had never had u truck with DEF before so I wasnt used to the extra gauge. I mistook my DEF for my fuel and almost ran out of fuel! Made matters worse I was on a GA backroad with no fuel stations. Nearest fuel stop wasnt an approved site so I had to phone in my request. Imagine the embarrassment.
