This isn't too much to ask for. When I went solo my wife went with me a week later. There are quite a few companies that allow a passenger as soon as the driver goes solo.
You need to call every company and just ask the recruiter what their passenger policy is. But I know for a fact that Central Refrigerated allows a passenger from day 1. But they're not the only company so browse around.
Swift allows passengers straight out of the gate too. Just have to check with different companies, like Daniel said some allow straight it straight off your mentors truck some make you get some experience.
Hi CSettle.................Welcome to TT. Jeff and I made the same decision as your post states. He is in his 2nd phase of training with Prime. They have a day one policy also, and it is $10/wk cost for insurance.

Hello,
My husband and I are both considering getting our CDL's and driving team. However, he has been OTR before as a passenger with his dad and I have no exposure to the lifestyle of truck drivers. So we had kind of decided that he would go through everything and drive solo for at least a year that way I could ride with him and make sure that it was something I could deal with after which time I would go back for training so we could drive team. I was looking at some different companies and it seems that most want drivers to have 6 months solo experience before having a passenger. I was hoping that we could find a company that would allow me to ride with him sooner. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
OTR:
Over The Road
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
