I know! Some day when I'm stopped in East St. Louis, I'm going to give you a shout, Rob.
I was being more sarcastic than anything. I understand the tight schedules don't allow drivers to stop whenever and wherever. Unlike other wannabes, I realize trucking isn't a vacation around the country.
But ping me when you're in East St. Louis.
12/3...I-80 in the middle of Montana.
I took these this morning on I-74 in Illinois at the precise instant the sun broke over the horizon.
This is Donner's pass. This was taken several years ago midwinter.

Love that area. Hope to drive there someday as a Professional Driver.

And all that snow will be gone in the middle of July! Most people have no concept of the amazing amount of snow that accumulates in the Sierras, measured in yards, not inches or feet.
Driving While Intoxicated
This year, the day after Memorial Day:
On the way to the top, we passed a day cab driving on windy US 6.
A tractor which does not have a sleeper berth attached to it. Normally used for local routes where drivers go home every night.

Yep! They measure single snowfall events there in feet!
I passed by this one early this morning, in either Iowa or Nebraska. It had been sitting awhile, so no idea how it ended up parked in the median on the westbound side of I-80. Lots of tire depressions in the grass and mud prior to the final resting point. At least it stayed upright and didn't cross into the eastern lanes.
