I’m just the opposite. After a year, I still wake up every hour or two. Sleep fine without it.
I hear from many guys that I will love it, sleep better and feel refreshed. It's been only a month this time and I wake up several times with it coming off my face. I wake up more tired, irritable and angry. However, they are blaming my AFib on having sleep apnea and tell me I will have more problems if I don't use one. So, I am doing it :-P
Laura
I have a deviated septum, which is probably the source of my snoring. As a result I have to breathe through my mouth when sleeping, I can’t get enough air through my nose, especially since the nasal mask and full face mask both rest on my sinuses and close off my nostrils partially.
As a result, I wake up dehydrated so badly I dream of water. Sometimes I’m in the desert, sometimes I just can’t find water, etc. I wake up with my tongue and mouth do dry it feels like it they are cracking.
I have the humidifier set to max. So high my hose fills with water sometimes.
Before I got it, O could drive 600 miles with no problem. Now, I find myself napping for my 30 minute break.
Occasionally I’ll skip it for a night and feel
Much more rested during the day
I’m considering paying for my own sleep study to see if I can get off it.
Have you spoken with your doctor about getting another mask to try?
I’m not sure what else I could try. The nasal pillows will likely have the same issue, as I would still need to breathe through my mouth. I saw a full face mask but again, I would still probably dehydrate.
I don’t even think I have sleep apnea. My report said I tossed and turned a lot. I took it when I had sciatica and I tossed and turned because I was in pain. Now that that finally cleared up I sleep in the same position for hours.
Sleep Apnea:
A physical disorder in which you have pauses in your breathing, or take shallow breaths, during sleep. These pauses can last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Normal breathing will usually resume, sometimes with a loud choking sound or snort.
In obstructive sleep apnea, your airways become blocked or collapse during sleep, causing the pauses and shallow breathing.
It is a chronic condition that will require ongoing management. It affects about 18 million people in the U.S.
