Check with your state DMV. NJ gives 30 days from the time of their notice to you. So it comes to like 60 days past.

NC didn't make me downgrade my CDL. They just gave me a K restriction, intrastate only.
CDL:

- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
Intrastate:
The act of purchasers and sellers transacting business while keeping all transactions in a single state, without crossing state lines to do so.

Hi everyone, No excuse but, I let my DOT Medical Card lapse. The position I have now does not require a CDL. So my license will be downgraded to a regular license. My responsibility for this happening. I was distracted and did not realize the date had passed. I just lost my only daughter in a car wreck January 31. So my head is spinning and really down. I hate to lose CDL but, I totally understand. Any thoughts. Thanks

If you're in a job that doesn't require a cdl obviously the lapse of your DOT card does not affect anything.
I would think, should you want to upgrade you'd have to go back and do the DOT and then give the required docs to the NC DMV. They can then reinstate your cdl.

That's what I was thinking. Just go get your physical then submit it to the DMV and get reinstated. Letting it lapse is not a life sentence.
