Thankful for being a tired trucker, and having a great company that keeps me moving. Not that I haven't been pushed to the limit. And there are times when I think I won't be able to drive one more mile. The loads are more than one man can carry, literally. When my company sees that I have the ability to successfully manage my drive time, I wonder do they understand the physical and psychological toll it takes?

Hello. Part of trucking is learning how to manage your time and communicate with dispatch. i can easily send a message, "Please set my availabilty at X time tomorrow. I need extra sleep and personal needs met". Bam... PTA extended. Im am always preplanned so i just tell him to give me a load with a window to pick up or not load me at all.

My FM once told me "I will run you as hard as you let me". YOU are in control. if you are exhausted, you arent safe. In the beginning you will be exhausted as your body adjusts to the crazy schedule. But after awhile, it gets much easier.

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
