Well I ran into some crazy traffic coming out of Savannah Ga this afternoon. Bumper to bumper up I-95. Alot of canada, ny, pa plated vehicles. My guess is Fl threw them out and told them to go home..
Interesting stuff! I agree with the greatest opportunity of our lifetimes . . . though it may take it a while to get there. I remember in 2000, Xerox got down to .25 a share. I was scared and didn't buy. . . . should have. Before this current crisis, it was at like $18 a share. Would have made a MINT!
2-3 quarters of downturn. Hmmm. Yes, but . . . once the downturn is fixed via stimulus, what happens? A slow recovery? Maintenance of the status quo at that level? Once things get so bad, they just sit there and suck. After the downturn ends, can America start moving towards a better quality of life or will the downturn quarters be so bad that we will have to suffer thru depression type finances? I tend to agree with you but . . . I am very worried what the quality of life will be like once we bottom. I'd hate to see my 75 yr old parents be forced to work for food (not really, I'll feed them, but you see my point).
I am in total disagreement that the last downturn prepared us for this. All we did was paper over the issues with stimulus. Nothing was fixed. The everything bubble that we are currently in came from the 2008 housing crisis.
The only thing we can count on right now is that family will be the only ones you can trust, the stimulus will hurt the long term, debt will compound, and the pain will continue for a while, at the very least.
I truly hope everyone has food in their belly, know where their family is, and has faith. This too shall be survived.
What does a single global currency have to do with this? Different countries have different types of economies with different monetary policy needs. If anything, the last global recession showed countries to be more hesitant to unify currencies. And why would countries like the U.S. and China give away their golden geese?
In 1968, Gary Allen published a book titled "None Dare Call It Conspiracy". It discussed how the powerful elite planned the great depression, took us off the gold standard, created the Federal reserve and predicted the formation of the EU and NAFTA.
It is the basis for all of the New World Order theories today. The book discussed the one world bank and currency. Alex Jones used the book for much of his rants. Many things in the book came true. The book claims 3 zones will be created that will eventually form one world govt.
Alex Jones has been touting for 20+ years that the US, Canada, and Mexico would form an "Amero" to replace our money.... much like the Euro.
Why would the US comply? Because we already do comply in treaty orgs like UN, NATO, WTO, etc Many Americans oppose us being in the UN because we shouldn't allow any other body to govern us... we have the constitution for that.
And why is this being brought up???? Because for all of that to happen... a huge tragedy must occur. Some people have been expecting this, which would allow a few people to take world domination.
Because for all of that to happen... a huge tragedy must occur
That's right. They need a crisis in order to implement major plans that people ordinarily wouldn't go along with. We won't know what their intentions are until this is over and they start talking about all of the new things we'll have to implement to make sure this doesn't happen again.
After 9/11 you had The Patriot Act:
The USA PATRIOT Act (officially the Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act) was quickly developed as anti-terrorism legislation in response to the September 11, 2001 attacks. The large and complex law received little Congressional oversight and debate and was signed into law by President George W. Bush on October 26, 2001.
PATRIOT gives sweeping search and surveillance to domestic law enforcement and foreign intelligence agencies and eliminates checks and balances that previously gave courts the opportunity to ensure that those powers were not abused. PATRIOT and follow-up legislation now in development threaten the basic rights of millions of Americans.
They're already using acronyms to help us feel safe and comfortable with Big Brother.
In New York they've done two very scary things. One, they have the PAUSE executive order:
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced he is signing the "New York State on PAUSE" executive order, a 10-point Policy to Assure Uniform Safety for Everyone. It includes a new directive that all non-essential businesses statewide must close in-office personnel functions effective at 8PM on Sunday, March 22, and temporarily bans all non-essential gatherings of individuals of any size for any reason.
Then he signed "Matilda's Law" which is, believe it or not, named after his mother:
Governor Cuomo also announced "Matilda's Law" - named for the Governor's mother - to protect New York's most vulnerable populations, including individuals age 70 and older, those with compromised immune systems and those with underlying illnesses. The measure requires this group of New Yorkers to stay home and limit home visitation to immediate family members or close friends in need of emergency assistance.
When they use acronyms to help us feel "uniformly safe" about them shutting down of all non-essential businesses and then pass laws named after their own mothers requiring in-home quarantine for all citizens and preventing any people from gathering in groups you know it's bad. Really bad.
Yesterday I hiked up one of the mountains I go to all the time. One guy was on the way down as I was going up, and he went off the trail and made this wide arc around me. For a moment I was puzzled, like why did he do that? Then it dawned on me he's practicing "Social Distancing" which according to the PAUSE order:
When in public individuals must practice social distancing of at least six feet from others
I just cracked up when I realized what he was doing. Good grief.
I was thinking about dabbing a little horseradish near my eyes and nose before going in the grocery store so my eyes would be red and watery and my nose would run so people would clear out and let me get to the meat counter!
This is interesting. Big corporations need huge bailouts to stay afloat. They want grants and loan guarantees:
But Trump had indicated he may want to offer aid in the form of an equity stake, a move that would dilute shareholders and give the government stricter oversight. It would also give the government a chance to make a profit, as it did after its 2008 bailout out of banks and automakers.
So the government may force large corporations to give them some equity (stock ownership) in the company. But that's innocent, I'm sure. We're just being paranoid. The Government is just trying to protect us from getting the flu.

That's a good idea! I wonder if that's the reasoning behind the new internet "challenge" idiot teens are doing. Apparently they go into a supermarket and start coughing all over produce resulting in the store needing to throw it all away all for a couple likes on social media. I unloaded a couple stores in Sioux Falls this morning and sniffled a little due to the cold air. The way the store employees kept there distance after that you'd think I killed a person. What really irks me about this is how employers are handling it. I understand them not wanting to ignore it and then something happen. My mom called last night and told me grandpa passed away and that due to fears of the virus they're holding a very small funeral to avoid exposure. Due to everything being shutdown the family and I will need to travel 4 hours (6 hours including potty breaks for kids) for the service then turn around and come back home. It'll be interesting to see if work expects me to quarantine upon my return. The way some higher ups at our company are reacting I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. We have since been locked out of the office that has dispatch, and transportation management in it. 1 of the dispatchers called me and asked to bring him something and to call when I was outside the door. At the time someone in management came out the door wearing latex gloves. While talking to me he proceeded to use his gloved hands to unscrew the top of his bottle touching where the water comes out of. Doesnt that defeat the purpose?

Nothing else to do but screw. Saw this in Costa Rica when I was a frequent visitor.
My GF's cousin lived next door (up in the mountains, small village).
Why do you have 7 kids, if you're poor? Nothing else to do around here - PLUS - when coffee picking season comes around, I have 7 pairs of hands to put in the field.
Or it could be this:
Just sayin...
