At Knight they are paying an extra 200 bucks (bonus money) per week to the drivers who do 2,200 miles that week. They've tentatively said they will do this for eight weeks and then decide if they want to do it for a longer period.

Unfortunately as a local driver I'm not eligible for bonuses at Knight, but I'm thinking of asking my terminal manager and seeing if we can get an exception for this... I can usually clear 2200 a week

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

My first hiccup with the negative effecta of the corona virus.

At a kenworth dealer having electrical issues sorted and the waiting room is closed to the public.

Its 38 degrees here with the wind feels like 30. Going to get a hotel room if its a long fix but they said it might be a quick easy fix and they need to run a full diagnostic test to figure that out. Probably be out here for 2 hours.

I may have had the virus, starting on the 21st through the 26th. I didn't get tested, but I definitely had something out of the ordinary for me. Lots of the same symptoms, but I've been okay for the past 24 hours.

It seemed you were kinda low profile then, Packrat. That explains, for me, and I'm glad you're feeling better.

There's been reports in Italy, from doctors, who treated seniors with "a strange pneumonia" in Nov/Dec.

In the early days of January I had a hard, rapid onset of gut symptoms that left me unable to answer my door, worst was about 18 hrs., fatigued for several weeks following, extremely minor respiratory affect. It didn't seem to align with the "flu" - 2 strains this season in Socal - and as of yet, I can't reliably match my symptoms to any flu or to covid-19.

Oh I was posting, and out driving. Just sick for a few days. I was having a bad headache, sore muscles, throwing up, no appetite, chills, and maybe a fever.

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

4 day week last week, no work starting this week. I volunteered to let the other drivers who really need the money to get the loads. I got lots to do.

The coronavirus is the least of our problems.

One of China's biggest real estate companies, Evergrande, posted a 50% drop in profit. Now, apparently, 3/4 of the Chinese peoples money is in real estate. If that bubble pops . . . China is done. But what does that mean? Three options - Turn on the debt printing machines (again), collapse (best option), or start a war. It is quite possible that there might be a variance of all three. War stimulates economy, debt spending on war, and have a "soft" collapse. Slower and less catastrophic. Anything less than a V shaped recovery and I am betting Xi Xinping is a goner. However, there is the rest of the world. Notice how EVERYONE (every central bank/govt) is throwing money at their respective economies? The debt that is being created is staggering. So rest of the world options? Reset? Collapse? Slow burning depression? Modern monetary theory? I'm at a loss, we're so far down the rabbit hole that I thought we would never get to, my forecasting/anticipation of events to come is . . . .unbelievably lost. The fundamentals of any traded company mean nothing. Same for any national economy. Same for the global economy. 1+1 does NOT equal 2. Taking 1 from 1 does not equal zero either. The actual basics are so far gone that there is NO BASELINE.

Honestly, during this self imposed lay off, I think its time to head into the woods. Do some physical labor, cut some trees down that need it, make a lean to shelter, cook over an open fire, listen to the forest. Have some good ol 1 on 1 time with the Almighty. Time to clear my head. The world has gone off the rails. The virus is over. hydroxychloroquine and a zpack. Basic hygiene. On its way out now. Wreaked a lot of havoc during its time with us, but now its playing its swan song. And we're left holding the bag. Dealing with the results of it? THAT's a damn hard job.

Hope everything turns out awesome for everyone. Use that gov't money wisely.

Mystery In Wuhan: Recovered Coronavirus Patients Test Negative ... Then Positive

We're not out of the woods yet...

Still too new in the overall timeline of this - to see what the future REALLY HOLDS. "Herd Immunity" requires enough of the herd to be exposed (and recovered) to make a difference in infection rates.

BUT - if you can RECOVER - and GET SICK AGAIN (or TRANSMIT AGAIN), this can still be a ticking timebomb. And China (with it's 1.4 BILLION to our 330 MILLION) has a lot more "cannon fodder" to sacrifice in a "war of attrition".

JCTrucker, how long have you been entertaining your mind with prophecies of doom? If you actually went to the woods, started cutting down trees, and lived in a lean to shelter, and cooked over an open fire, I might have more sympathy with your ramblings. As it is, you just seem to please yourself as some sort of self proclaimed modern day Nostradamus.

I see a lot of opportunity developing in this world wide crisis. I guess I'm Pollyanna and your Nostradamus. We're probably both wrong! smile.gif

My comments on this article I posted - from my FB page...

"Two of them are front-line doctors who were sickened after treating patients in their Wuhan hospitals. The other two are Wuhan residents. They all requested anonymity when speaking with NPR because those who have challenged the government's handling of the outbreak have been detained."

The nice word in Communist Countries for DISAPPEARED.

------------------------

OK- this can be quite screwed up. (long read to follow - stay with me, it's worth it)...

We haven't gotten far enough along the timeline with this virus - to know whether recovery CONFERS IMMUNITY. Typical testing is "Titer Testing" (for antibodies). The other test is a PCR Test (polymerase chain reaction) - which tests for the presence of the virus itself.

So - patients in Wuhan that were sickened, recovered and then tested negative - are NOW TESTING POSITIVE AGAIN. Authorities are UNSURE whether or not they are SHEDDING VIRUS (communicable). Now - the typical modality of vaccine development, is to use a benign form of the infection/virus, to cause the immune system to create ANTIBODIES, which in turn, resist an exposure to the same (or very similar) virus/infection from taking root in the host.

In this case - if folks who have "recovered" and tested negative are seroconverting back to positive - WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? For both TESTING METHODOLOGY AND A POSSIBLE VACCINE?

If infection doesn't create immunity - than that also means that a vaccine won't either.

Talk of "herd immunity" (where enough of a population group are immune through either exposure or vaccine, so that stuff like this doesn't become a pandemic) is WAY TO EARLY at this point.

Again - we are DEPENDING OF ACCURATE INFORMATION - from a country that has a HISTORY OF WITHHOLDING INFORMATION - as demonstrated by the LAG IN REPORTING that allowed this thing to GO GLOBAL PANDEMIC IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I'm not the "black helicopter/tinfoil hat" type - by a longshot. But there are still too many things in the initial outbreak and global spread of the infection to convince me that some "bat soup" start this whole thing.

YES - viruses can mutate in the wild and become "cross-species contagions". And can mutate further after spreading into populations (sometimes even mutating to a benign form).

OTOH - China has 1.4 BILLION PEOPLE (as opposed to 330 million US) - and their government (as well historically, as other communist governments) WOULDN'T THINK TWICE about SACRIFICING A FEW MILLION OF THEIR OWN (Mao did what 20-46 million), to screw over the rest of the world. IT IS TO THEIR ADVANTAGE - both FINANCIALLY AND STRATEGICALLY TO DO SO.

So - man-made or not - there are still MANY THINGS CHINA HAS TO ANSWER FOR. And being THEY HAVE THE LONGEST EXPOSURE TIMELINE in this pandemic - IT'S HIGH TIME THEY ALLOW THE INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL COMMUNITY IN TO SEE JUST WHAT THE F IS GOING ON...
