The only way you can truly stop it is 100% isolation, which is obviously impossible. Otherwise, stopping a virus is like stopping the rain or the wind or the ocean tides.

I agree it would require 100% isolation in order to stop viruses entirely, at least in the absence of intel on who is infected and who isn't. But with modern testing and contact tracing, like in South Korea, they don't stand nearly as much chance of spreading like an unstoppable natural force.

South Korea had their first confirmed case on the same day as us, but New York City alone now has more than seven times the amount of confirmed cases as their entire country, even though the city of Seoul, which has seen infections, has a higher population than NYC and twice the population density.

In Germany, they've done over one million tests now, with 100,000 more each day. It's one test per every 80 citizens so far, and 93% of them have come back negative.

Taken together, they are indications to believe the virus's spread can be seriously limited by protective measures, and that, so far, at least, it hasn't been running wildly unreported throughout the general population.

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Come to the dark side, join the day cab gang. Drive a real truck

Day Cab:

A tractor which does not have a sleeper berth attached to it. Normally used for local routes where drivers go home every night.

I was talking to a few OTR guys on Friday. They were like "You drive 600 miles a day IN A DAY CAB??!!"

LOL!!!!

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

A tractor which does not have a sleeper berth attached to it. Normally used for local routes where drivers go home every night.

I don’t need to drive. A day cab every day will never happen unless it’s $1.00 per mile.

Anybody who is from Chicago or the area or has ever been through the area watch this video. Music is a bit much but we will probably never see Chicago this empty ever again in our lifetime.

I Had this story pop up when I opened my phone this morning. The Washington Post reports Grocery employees are dying! No way! You mean to tell me Walmart, a company that employs over 2 million people, should be exempt from their employees getting sick?? In the article it also says

“One of the biggest mistakes supermarkets made early on was not allowing employees to wear masks and gloves the way they wanted to,” he said. “They’re starting to become proactive now, but it’s still going to be much tougher to hire hundreds of thousands of new workers. We’re going to start seeing people say, ‘I’ll just stay unemployed instead of risking my life for a temporary job.’ "

no. You're having trouble finding people because somebody will make MORE money by sitting at home than working a near minimum wage job. The additional $600 a week that people are receiving for unemployment is the equivalent of $15 an hr for a 40 hour week. If you factor in what your base unemployment check will be it's no wonder they can't find people to work. As part time or temporary workers I highly doubt anybody is hiring them at more than $15 an hr. If people will make the same amount of money whether they go to work or not why would they? Being part time or temporary they're most likely not getting any benefits. I know several people who are bragging that they're making more money to sit on their butt at home than they did while working.
