I just got prescribed phentermine to help curb my appetite. Im planning on getting my cdl in a few months after I lose some weight because it's trying to cause some health issues. Will this medication disqualify me from getting my cdl. I asked my doctor if this will affect my ability to drive and she said no she has professional driver patients. I drive a box truck for work and so far it doesn't cause any issues. Any who takes this medication or have dealt with this. Once I get down to my desired weight im going to stop taking the meds. Thanks in advance

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
