Tomorrow Will Be Boring

For tomorrow we had 8 drivers too many so they were asking people to take the day off. Only 3 people wanted the day off. We're never forced to take the day off if we don't want to, instead they will find us something to do. For tomorrow I only have 5 people below me in seniority. I was given the choice of use vacation time or push a broom around for 8 hours. I have 3 days off already scheduled in June leaving me with only 3 more days to use before October 1st. I opted to work in the warehouse pushing a broom. I'm going to be extremely bored but I'm thankful I have a job at a time when many people are out of work. I'll still get paid my same hourly wage as if I were out driving but I won't make as much due to "only" working 8 hours (6a-2p). There will be 3 other drivers doing odds and ends with me. It could be worse, I could be sitting at home worrying about how I'm going to pay my bills

Your right at least your working some people aren't so lucky. Things must be slowing down in the grocery department? I think panic buying is over so hopefully things return to normal.

Under certain circumstances we can end up on broom detail, usually if you are unable to drive for some reason. If the weather was bad I wouldn't mind push a broom or riding the sweeper around for 8 hours especially since we get our usual hourly pay as well.

before the panic shopping started we had too many drivers almost every day. We had about 2 weeks of crazy shopping. I have about 10 drivers below me and due to the amount of loads going out I had about 30-40 routes to pick from most days. Now that things have settled down we're back to too many drivers. When I was hired I was told this would be normal for this time of year so I'm not concerned about layoffs. Plus they continue to open more stores as well as expanding in the gas stations/convenience stores sector. Come summer time they need extra help nearly every day due to most people using all their vacation time. I'm thankful we're not forced to take a day off like many companies including the other 2 DC's.

I'm hoping so. I remember my days working in the dark, depressing warehouses and other than the days the weather has been extremely bad I don't miss it one bitsmile.gif

Ok, you are right. From the one hand you are a lucky one with a job while lots of people are staying at home and lost their jobs. Anyway, it's pretty boring and you are right too, but I think< in this situation, it's better to be optimistic. So, good luck to you and your job.

Handle and head: Not bent, broken or cracked. Properly mounted and secure!

Bristles: Properly mounted and secure, not worn dangerously thin, free of oil, grease and debris

Rob T: Present, fed, and properly stretched, Applying proper handle pressure and not pulling to one side. May be bent cause he’s not driving,
