I am.on my way to Sprimo 😁 should be there fri/saturday.... truck needs shop

Looking forward to meeting you! I'm currently studying my pre-trip in my room while following along a video. I'm pretty green when it comes to mechanical parts, but i'm good when it comes to heat exchangers, boilers, furnaces, and cooling towers lol. It's been me and Rob and 2 other people pre-tripping someones truck on the lot, but Rob seems to have it down pat already due to his previous knowledge of vehicles. All in all, going steady.

Hey bud welcome to the group, and hello everyone else. Its been a long time I know but i have some free time because of this covid 19 really screwing up ltl freight. Well Im back for a short bit and I missed you guys too, but enough of that. I worked at Prime for my first yr and on the same fleet as kearsey. HI KEARSEY! Learn all you can there at Prime its a great company, and will teach you alot. Trainers differ like underwear and some are good and some are bad. At the end of the day all of them will get on your nerves and vice versa, its a small space and people are set in their ways. Just make sure they communicate and you also communicate effectively, never be afraid to ask a question... Ever! The more you know the less you will make up for on your own when no one is there to help and Sprimo is 1000 miles away.

I have a challenge for you and please this is just for fun , but when you get the hang of driving that rig. Lets see how long you can run on recaps before you burn out. That means you have a 70 hour clock and at the end of the week your clock will start giving back your previous weeks hours. Meaning you started on Monday you ran 7 days and on the 8th day ,the monday of the next week, your clock will give you back the time you used on the first monday. This will happen with every day there on forward. Most guys like to run 9 hours a day 7 days a week so their clock never runs out. This is in a perfect world of course. This is all in fun and it really helps manage your clock with proper pre-tripping, and learning the interstates especially in trickier states with elevation or in densely populated areas like Atlanta, Miami, and New York city which will slow you down depending on the time of day.

This little challenge is all in fun, just learn all you can take care of yourself out there. The most important thing is your new, its a big truck, and backing in those truck stops can be nerve racking at the end of the day when your tired. You have a great advantage to being "homeless" on the road and saving alot of money. Essentially changing your life's trajectory, with a debt free beginning in a years time.

be safe keep the shiny side up

Chris

LTL:

Less Than Truckload

Refers to carriers that make a lot of smaller pickups and deliveries for multiple customers as opposed to hauling one big load of freight for one customer. This type of hauling is normally done by companies with terminals scattered throughout the country where freight is sorted before being moved on to its destination.

LTL carriers include:

  • FedEx Freight
  • Con-way
  • YRC Freight
  • UPS
  • Old Dominion
  • Estes
  • Yellow-Roadway
  • ABF Freight
  • R+L Carrier

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
