Anyone know how carrying a pistol on person, in glove box or on dash realtes to the trucking industry? If I have a license to conceal carry in one state how does it apply in other states. Do most trucking companies frown upon or prohibit carrying a firearm in any capacity?

The bottom line is you do not carry a firearm in a truck - period. Almost every company in America has company policies that forbid it, a ton of customers have policies forbidding firearms on their property, and numerous state laws will prevent you from carrying it legally because you will not be licensed properly in every state.

If you carry a gun in the truck you're taking a huge risk. We strongly recommend you do not even consider. That being said I know there are diehards that will do so anyway, and that's on them. But for those who are wondering about the legality and prudence of it, do not carry a gun in your truck under any circumstances.

I've never felt the need for a gun. I've never felt that unsafe. Just use common sense really. Don't walk between trailers, park in well lit areas and don't give anyone a reason to want to harm you. You'll be fine, no need for firearms.

I second that. Not worth the risk to your career. Statistically trucking isn't as dangerous as people think. Imagine how many drivers there are, how many miles they drive, how many locations they deliver to, all of that versus the relatively few incidents. Just like airplanes. Yes it's horrible when something goes wrong but the amount of times things go wrong is very minimal.

Like Daniel said. . . Common sense will serve you well.

There are NO federal laws against it, but there are problems with reciprocity. Iowa will recognize a CCW from any state, but New York will NOT recognize a CCW from any other state.

As stated earlier MOST trucking companies, MANY shippers and receivers have a policy against firearms.
