Congrats on going solo!!. Sorry too hear the company didn’t clean it up prior to issuing it to you. I sure hope they gave you a new mattress.

Pj, They hired a 3rd party that made an “attempt” to clean it out but didn’t get rid of the smells lol. And it wasn’t a deep clean. I don’t blame the company. So far my experience with Werner has been good and everyone has been as helpful as possible. I was given a new mattress. I was allowed to bobtail home for a 100 miles and no mech issues yet. That’s All I care about. We will see how she does with a trailer. Little elbow grease and love (lots of disinfectant and febreeze) , me and large marge will be fine !

Bobtail:

"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.

Congratulations!

All the smells come out now with the hot weather and a closed up truck sitting in the sun baking. Clean it, air fresheners, and ride around with the windows down as much as you can stand.

Well I’m midway through my second load. Both days I have been able to get ahead of the game by calling ahead and seeing if stores will receive me the night prior. Yesterday I was able to get 2 of 3 stores knocked out of the way. Trying to be productive and prove that I’m willing to hustle. An added benefit of getting there at night or early in the am is an empty parking lot. The safety guy at my dc is great and I had to spend half a day with him before my first load. Close quarters backing. How they want their pre trips conducted. He was a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate having the additional info in my arsenal. Truck is working great and my opti idle and exhaustion is allowing me to sleep like a baby.

“Large Marge in her natural habitat. It’s nice that we can sleep at any store so that helps with trip planning. I either got the pee smell out or am nose blind, lol. I like this 17 better than my trainers truck which was a 19. Feels like it drives better and the bumper isn’t as low. Plus, it’s mine!”

Papa, glad it's going so well! That level of demonstrating self-initiative (calling ahead for early deliveries) is guaranteed to make a name for you, in an awesomely good way. Keep it up!
