Hopefully, it won’t wind up like so many others I’ve heard which go off the rails when they open the phone lines for Q&A. I’ve stopped listening to RoadDog for the same reason I don’t read Truckers Report.
That's the biggest concern for me, too. When she asked me what I thought about it being a call-in show I told her we could have had a positive, energetic, and productive show without taking calls, or at least without taking live callers. I would prefer to see questions phoned in and then selected to be discussed on air, but I think they believe the appeal is letting truckers get on the air and discuss their thoughts live at the moment.
To be honest, I expect it to go off the rails a few times. I'm working on putting together some topics I'm hoping we can discuss to steer the conversation in a productive direction, but I expect at least a few ranting lunatics to get through the screeners.
But, I'll take my chances. I've been in the industry 27 years. I won't face anything I haven't faced 1,000 times.
Totally agree. If they can keep focused on the topic and the fact that your primary focus has been on steering new folds towards success in the industry, it should be fine. Road dog could do that but In many cases they don’t because snake oil sells and many of the listeners don’t want to hear anything else. Heck, if it gets out of hand, I’ll call in and tell a bunch of folks to F off lol.
We’ve had our disagreements but I still think you have a good thing going here and deserve to have a solid interview to explain your side without having to argue with some black smoke matters moron who started driving in a quarry with Fred Flintstone and has hauled every load everywhere better than anyone else.
Yeah I agree on the rather not taking calls. I'd much rather listen to you and Kevin talk for 3 hours than a driver call in screaming incoherently into his phone while its on speaker with the window down at highway speed haha. As far as I know Kevin was an Owner Operator for most of his career so I'm sure that will come up. I also won't be able to listen to it live. My 3 yr old simply won't allow me too so if your able to get a copy of the conversation I'll listen to every second of it.
An owner-operator is a driver who either owns or leases the truck they are driving. A self-employed driver.
Yeah, I'm with you guys. I listen to dozens of podcasts because I love intelligent, thoughtful conversations with knowledgable people. I go through audiobooks by the dozens. I love that kind of stuff. I just think it's a highly unproductive use of time to take random ramblings from the peanut gallery. If you're looking for fights and drama and you consider that to be entertainment, then that's the way to go.
My goal when I'm listening to something is to learn as much as possible and hear interesting, thought-provoking viewpoints on topics from well-informed people. Call-in shows aren't the best format for that.
Yeah I agree on the rather not taking calls. I'd much rather listen to you and Kevin talk
Brett will be on KC's show, not Kevin's.
Just bumping this up as a reminder I'll be live today on Road Dog Trucking Radio from 4:00 - 7:00 PM Eastern Time. If there are any topics you'd like us to cover, let me know and I'll see what I can do. It's a call-in show so if you'd like to go live on the air with a question we'd love to hear from ya!
Very cool , I don't have Sirius but hope to find a rebroadcast after . This should be good especially with some of the newer rules recently. Itll be interesting to hear some opinions. Good luck!
This is so awesome. I will definitely be tuning in and listening.
Thank-you for taking the time for the show. I apologize for using your name last week without your permission 😇😇. I really enjoyed it.

Congrats!!! I’ll definitely listen in on that one because it will be a good interview. Hopefully, it won’t wind up like so many others I’ve heard which go off the rails when they open the phone lines for Q&A. I’ve stopped listening to RoadDog for the same reason I don’t read Truckers Report.
