I drive for Schneider and last week it was time to trade my truck for a newer one, well the newer one broke down so then I got an replacement. In the midst of moving all my belongings for a 3rd time I forgot to get my log book. Today I got pulled over in the weigh station for an level 3 inspection. Everything was good except for my back up paper log book was missing. Can you guess help me out on how this violation will effect me? Is it major or minor?

I don't really know because I've always had spare paper logbooks.

I would think it would show as more if a minor discrepancy, as opposed to say bald tires or a leaky air tank.

Logbook:

A written or electronic record of a driver's duty status which must be maintained at all times. The driver records the amount of time spent driving, on-duty not driving, in the sleeper berth, or off duty. The enforcement of the Hours Of Service Rules (HOS) are based upon the entries put in a driver's logbook.

Is it listed as a form and manner violation on the record of inspection? If so, those are 1 point violations... if memory serves correctly.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Talk to the Safety person at your OC. They can also tell you how Schneider views it.
