I have NO CLUE on the microwave stuff (sorry!) and hubby's in his rig so I can't ask... (again, sorry!) but, I just wanted to say, it's AWESOME to see you back around, Neek~! :)
I'm thinking one of the guys/gals will be on here soon to answer, because I KNOW i've read it to be do'able. Actually, check Susan D.'s posts, IIRC~!
Nice to see ya back in here~!!!
Are you allowed to install an inverter?
You are going to need an inverter and a pretty big one at that. 700 watts is about the smallest microwave you can get and with start up draw you would want at least 1000w inverter to handle it. The inverter will also need to be hard wired to the battery. Cigarette lighter plugins will not cut it.
Looks like there are some 12 volt microwaves out there but that are over $300 and would still need to be hard wired to the battery.
I would check with your shop/maintenance folks to see if they can help you out.
Yeah I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind me having an inverter installed but I was trying to avoid that if possible. I'm headed out on Sunday so was looking for a quick solution. No worries. Guess it's cold food and snacks in the truck for the time being! Onwards
MAN, where have you BEEN???

Is this something like what you’re looking for? Seems pretty expensive for a microwave. 🤣

Well packrat, right now I'm in Charleston SC...😁. I've just been cruising around driving locally. Then the money wasn't enough so I'm back for more. Still trying to find my place. Still no tickets or accidents thank God.

Yeah dude f---orget that. I'm not spending that much on a microwave. For that price I could just breathe on the food till it gets hot.

Some of ya might remember me. I got my start trucking about two and a half years ago now. Im just about to start running this dedicated route for GE in the south. Here's the issue: I need to put a microwave in my truck but don't have a power inverter. I can't seem to fine any regular 12v microwaves....do they make those? All I can find is the little oven things. Those are nice but not what I'm looking for. What's the most cost effective way to get a microwave in there functioning properly? Thanks!
Dedicated Route:
A driver or carrier who transports cargo between regular, prescribed routes. Normally it means a driver will be dedicated to working for one particular customer like Walmart or Home Depot and they will only haul freight for that customer. You'll often hear drivers say something like, "I'm on the Walmart dedicated account."
HOS:
Hours Of Service
HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
