That storm just came past my house with 80 mph winds knocked out power and knocked down branches all over the place 2 landed on my first new car luckly I dont see any damages now. I called off for tonight as its so hot and humid in my room I can't sleep plus we had tornado sirens going off and branches hitting the house.
Im sure the highways are a mess here too just looking at Google maps the wind was insane and just come in out of nowhere. Good chance I would have lost at least my rear trailer if it was light had I been out there.
I was just south of Bloomington, Illinois when it blew through. I had parked behind a Walmart to get some provisions for the week. I came out to the massive cloud wall. The difference between the ambient temp and the cold air felt like opening the door on my refer. It was blowing so hard, I lowered the landing gear on my trailer because I thought it would go over standing still. There’s only 12k lbs in the box. Thank god I had pulled over, I’d hate to be on the road for that.
I hope everyone made it through that safely.
Operating While Intoxicated
Glad you guys are safe. One of our drivers rolled 3 miles from the yard, and another had a rock come flying through his rear window of the cab. Both guys are safe atleast. I didnt even know this storm was coming. Good thing I pulled off to take my break when I did otherwise I'd have been in the brunt of it. Thankfully the worst was done by the time I came rolling south. Some areas are looking at 10 days without power! Work has been sending out several texts needing drivers to take atleast 2 dozen empty reefer trailers to stores so their product doesnt spoil. If it was this bad out this way, I'd hate to see what it'd do it Wyoming!
A refrigerated trailer.
Glad you where parked too, I went to Home Depot to get a battery operated fans and there are a bunch of trucks parked in store lots and on the roads.
There are 600k people without power here so it maybe days before it comes back on. If so ill have to get a hotel I guess.
My wife HATES bad weather so I knew it was coming but it seemed like it pretty much blew over the Oak Lawn IL area. Gusty winds for sure but went quick. We did loose power also but got it back after a couple hours. I had no idea there were that many outages. We did have sirens either.

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
What's wrong with purple? I wear purple daily. I happen to like purple
My baby brother (turned 60 this past Feb) loves purple. He has lots of purple clothes, a 3 wheel motorcycle and knick-knacks. I can't stand purple, unless it's flowers.

I was asleep and woke up to the tornado warning on my phone and stuff hitting my window it was pretty crazy here for about 30 minutes.
You got lucky then Its been 12 hours now, Com Ed still doesn't have a estimate for when it might come back.

120 mph winds in Davenport port is crazy, we had some strong winds had to be 80 mph + don't think it was that bad though.

ComEd says we probably won't have power until Saturday afternoon, and since the community well doesn't have a generator we basically have no water.
So its off to a hotel for.

There were SEVERAL rollovers across the state today due to 80 mph wind in front of a storm. Took 4 1/2 hours to go what should only take 1:45 due to all the detours and I35 being shutdown. News was reporting there were 9 semis on their sides in the 20ish mile stretch from Ames down to Ankeny. Detour wasn't any better. No doubt in my mind a tornado came through based on the carnage. I'll tell you what, regardless if there's drivers out there that hate daycabbers they sure love us when they're forced off the beaten path.
It's also shutdown closer to my house due to 3 rollovers and a secondary accident that seen a truck burn to the ground. This will be fun.....
