Prayers that this surgery is a complete success, your recovery is complete, and you are out on the road again soonest.
I've emailed Old School recently, and he's written two articles for us. We will publish one today, one early next week.
He goes in for surgery tomorrow, Friday, Nov 19th, so we won't be hearing from him for a bit.
No one knows what the future holds for Old School, but we wish him the best and we're praying for this to go well. We hope to see him stay a regular around here for years to come!
Thanks, Brett!
I'm looking forward to an article up and coming, soonest, then . . for sure!
Sending prayers that everything has gone really well for O/S today (or will tomorrow?) in surgery. Thursday is the 19th, Friday being the 20th, so . . . I'll keep both days in prayers.
God Bless.

Sorry to hear Old School. I hope that your surgery went well. No matter what the future holds for you, I am sure that you will make the best of it, and be a source of inspiration for those who you have known in the past and those that you will meet in the future, be it in person or via TT. Prayers for you and your family.
Happy Thanksgiving Old School, how is your recovery going so far?
It's going well. I can actually spend a little time at the computer this time. My biggest concern is that each time I get to the one month point past surgery, my retina detaches again. My youngest daughter says my retina is just as stubborn as me!
They put a silicone oil bubble in my eye this time. That is a more aggressive method of holding the retina in place while it heals. The doc said I'm such a vigorous healer that scar tissue is forming quickly and pushing against my retina before everything bonds back together securely.
Hopefully this will take care of the healing process, but my future vision is still questionable.
The silicone bubble will require another surgery in 4 to six months so it can be removed.
Good luck, and hope you can get back out there soon.
Bumping this due to what you said in a different thread. You said
It's likely that I am done with OTR driving.
was Knight able to come up with anything to keep you busy, that interested you?
Also... we're anxiously awaiting for those articles we were told about a few weeks. Brett, cmon man!
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Rob, I've had some very interesting offers. I'm not ready to declare any commitments yet. I still have another surgery scheduled for March.
I had a follow up visit with my eye surgeon this past week and things seem to be looking a little better this time around. My retina has remained attached this time (a huge relief) and my vision has actually improved a little. It is still very bad in my right eye, but something is going better. I can tell the difference this time around. I am not having any pain and I can actually see a little better out of that eye. Technically, I am legally blind in that eye, but it is changing. They told me that my retina took a huge hit. It was torn in several pieces before they reconstructed it and reattached it. They say it will regenerate to a certain extent and It will take at least a year or more for us to see how well it improves.
Any idea what the retina detachment was caused by?
