Get well soon Old School!
Hope your feeling better and back on the road soon. Kick that covid’s a$$!!!
🙏 Sorry to hear it, but glad you’re tough as nails and kickin’ a$$!
You’re always an inspiration!
Good luck with your recovery; I look forward to hearing that you’re back on the road.
Get well soon!
Thanks everyone! I didn't bother posting anything until I felt I was on the downhill side of this struggle. Brett summed up my natural reaction to being sidelined when he said...
Nothing is more difficult than sitting around doing nothing!
I struggled with the inactivity, the total lack of producing something measurable, more so than I did with feeling sick. I was very sick, but it's a driving force in me to always keep moving forward. I had to force myself to rest, and that was a huge struggle.
One night on the phone, my lovely wife asked me, "How are you doing?" I said I was feeling better, but she quickly interrupted me with, "That's not what I'm talking about. How are you dealing with forced inactivity?" She knows me better than anyone. I told her I had worn a trail in the carpet of my hotel room. I was literally pacing back and forth, like an animal in a zoo exhibit enclosure. I hadn't even realized what I was doing until she pointedly asked the question.
Anne, you are so sweet! Thank you for your kind offer! Since I'm checking out of the hotel today, I can't take you up on your offer. It's very generous and kind. Thanks again!
I don't even know yet where my first dispatch will take me. I should get that information later today. When I get that, I'll give you folks a heads up, so you can stay out of my path!
Glad to hear you’re feeling better. It sucks being sick and even more when you’re laid up away from home. As far as starting out of your way, that’s easy lol. I’m generally slower than everyone else.
Well, I'm going to have another full night of rest here in Delhi, LA before leaving tomorrow afternoon on a load going from here to Farmington, CT. This load has a built in backhaul with it. The customer there has a load of cut-off returns going back to the plant in Delhi, where they will be re-melted and produced into shiny new aluminum extrusions. That should total about 2,800 miles. Not a bad load to come back in from my sick-bed confinement.

Darn GREAT LOAD, at that~!
O/S, sometimes the 'stars align' as they are meant to...and besides boredom, I'm thinking one more night of rest won't hurt you one bit~!
Knew I should've just sent that care package; It'd be there with you!
Rest up, watch TV. The 'line up' tonight kinda sux, but.. just one more day!!!!
Bank some sleep, if nothing else; knowing YOU .... you'll be kicking it and killing it this week!!!!
Best always,
Anne :)

Praying for a speedy recovery Old School. And your dispatcher is FREAKEN AWESOME, man. The bond yall have is like sugar on rice. Just amazing. Getwell soon and speedy 🙏🏼🙏🏼!!
Dispatcher:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
