I'm sorry to hear this O/S. I often wonder about the onion and the potato haulers in Eastern & Central Oregon and whether they'll get exposed to it at the packing plants. I've seen a lot of that work available on Craigs lately. Get well soon O/S!
How has your return gone for you, Old School?
I'm definitely not 100%. It was really hot and humid in Delhi when I was tarping this load. I had to stop and rest a few times. Another driver was there who I've helped a lot. He's younger than me, but hasn't taken very good care of himself. Several weeks ago I tarped his load for him - his "gout was flaring up," and he asked me for help. Yesterday he had a Conestoga trailer, and he said, I'll come help you when I'm finished securing my load. I was almost finished, but for some bungees, and I looked over to see what he was doing. He was bent over beside his tractor hurling his supper out onto the parking lot!
I've had a nagging cough that keeps hanging around, but today it seems to be on it's way out. I've purposely tried to stay active, and I think that has helped. My wife checks on me regularly. She's like a mother bear when it comes to me. She was relieved to hear me talking to her without coughing.
Here's a strange thing. The security guard at the Hydro plant actually came to the back of the plant to check on me while I was tarping my load. I don't know this guy, but he said, "Everybody's been talking about you. We missed having you around last week. I just wanted to offer you a cold bottle of water, and make sure you weren't over doing it."
So, I guess with all these folks looking out for me, I'm gonna be alright.
Keep on truckin old school. Glad to see you are out there alive and kickin. Prayers for a speedy recovery
That is great to read that you are back on the upswing. Recovering and tarping loads, too? That's a Big Win in my book!
Welcome back!
Glad you're feeling better. It's strongly suspected that I had it in mid-February. I was home for 16 days. Although I felt better, I got tired quite easily for a little over a month after my return and took slightly longer breaks (12's instead of 10s especially with forklift loads) until I finally got my strength back up.
Glad you're doing better. I have a family friend who is recovering in rehab from COVID-19. It's a tough one.
Good luck.
Well, when it rains it pours. Now I've been sidelined with a detached retina in my right eye. Going to a retina specialist in the morning. I'll update you guys when I can.
