Rob T- Thank you for The posting of the portion of the Ohio CDL- wasn’t aware of the out-of-service rule for “< .04% of alcohol”. Excellent!
Absolutely, any amount of alcohol (including mouthwash!) Detected is automatic 24 hours out of service. All states manuals are nearly identical given that we're regulated at the federal level with very minor differences. Given that most companies have a zero tolerance for alcohol while you're responsible for their equipment it's safe to say you'd likely also be out of a job. Needing to explain to any future employers you were fired for breaking company policy, especially regarding alcohol, would make it very difficult finding any reputable company to take you on. Plus it would show up on the clearinghouse so there's no way of hiding it. The way I handle indulging in alcohol is only sitting in my backyard (not driving at all including friends or bars) and no less than 24 hours between my last drink and when I'm set to return to the truck. I know of drivers that have had to stay out overnight in a company paid hotel and have a couple beers with dinner. More power to them, I value my lucrative career much more than a knocking back a couple cold ones with dinner.

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices
Mouthwash.. Good point. Use non alcohol. They have it at walmart.
OK, I need to get your input on the following:
I have type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. Both are managed with medication. I do not take insulin, I manage both conditions with oral meds (pills). Will this give me trouble passing the DOT physical?? Any thoughts are appreciated.
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
Operating While Intoxicated
Thoughts?
It may be a high hurdle, especially high BP.
What's your diet like?
These can be more of an issue than your older problems. Found FMCSAs link for Type I and insulin Type II diabetes. Will keep looking. So, you will be on a yearly medical card.

Abnormally high blood pressure.
From FMCSA website. So, Type II shouldn't be a problem.

On February 21, 2019, FMCSA published a Federal Register notice (FR 84 5549) withdrawing its September 3, 2003, notice concerning exemptions for certain individuals with insulin-treated diabetes mellitus (ITDM) and its November 8, 2005, revision. OK since I didn’t see anyone else mention this. If your felony convictions are for drug trafficking, not possession but trafficking, you have a federal ban and no state can grant you a cdl

Hi, I'm glad you mentioned it. My convictions were for possession. That was when I was young and dumb and thought I was invincible and ruled the world. I've since gotten married, had 2 wonderful boys ( my oldest will be graduating High School this year!), and no longer live that kind of life. I've been married for 20 years now and am grateful for every minute I have with my family. I never thought I'd have this kind of life. But anyway, so the possession charges should be ok??
