I have my medical card already as well. Can you explain long form. Are there different types of medical cards? I got the one they gave me when I took my physical. It is a two year card.

The Long Form came in an envelope with the card for your wallet. The long form lists everything that you filled out while at the doctors office and also the notes on what the doctor did. The smaller cardboard card only shows the basics of the actual long form.

Hmmmmmm, they must have sent that to my company. I have not seen it. The physical was done on Feb 7th.

When you get a DOT physical, the Dr will fill out a 1 or 2 page form....the Dr. will keep the original ( I think), and they will give you a little card, that sez you passed. But it is wise to ask for a copy of your long form. Some places ask for it, and if you are caught out on the road and need to get your next DOT physical in the future, you will have it to refer to. ALSO, there is rumblings that the DOT at the scale houses may start asking to see them right along with your permits and stuff...

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Well, it is official! I passed CDL - A (General knowledge, air brakes and combination). First try. I passed tankers. First try. I passed twins. First try. I passed passenger. First try. I passed hazmat. First try.

The High Road CDL training has helped me breeze through each and every step so far. Does the High Road have a way to take my driving test for me? ROFL! Thanks for all the help! Tomorrow, I hit the road for school.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

HAZMAT:

Hazardous Materials

Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations

Hmmmmm, maybe I will have to call the place that did my physical and get them to fax me a copy of that long form. I am hoping they sent a copy to my company.

Well, it is on now. I just arrived in WI. That was a long drive in a GMC Sonoma. 22 hours trapped in a sardine can.
