Amazon may have to stick a crow bar in their wallet and start paying companies a reasonable rate.
Especially when earlier this year, they could not process their orders fast enough to honor the company's two day guarantee.
It seems to me if contract drivers were paid a market value, then I would see better looking equipment pulling their trailers. I see a lot of their contracted trucks on the shoulder, with the four-way flashers on.
Dear Amazon,
You require us to get twice as much insurance to pull your loads, then expect to pull power only rates. Get real.
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Sid what do the current power only loads go for? I've noticed my company paying $3.75 a mile for power only (reefer) and thought it seemed excessive for what I've seen talked about here and other places.
A refrigerated trailer.

I don't do power only, but in my email jb hunt is offering $2/mi + fuel surcharge, $1/mi empty. So take it as a point of reference.

Hey Dave? I’m not sure if you’ve seen anything about it yet but Nikola just had 3 lawsuits filed and is being investigated by the SEC for fraud. Also, the CEO just stepped down all but admitting to defrauding investors and potential buyers. They’re also being investigated over the lack of having any of the tech they’ve been claiming.

Robert, thanks for the tip. I'll check it out.

As freight demand grows, especially in anticipation of an early holiday sales season, Amazon is finding itself losing its owner-operator line-haul drivers to the spot market, and is needing to find capacity elsewhere. And FMCSA creates a drivers advisory panel, and reminds owner-operators to register for the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
