Petro in Salina, KS was my favorite. Clean and extra towels. But that has been a few years. Most of the truck stop showers are clean and yes remember to take flip flops or shower shoes. The most interesting one was in Van Horn, TX-separate showers for men and women. My ex and I always shared the shower so that was a first, there was only room for one person and you had to take a fast shower or you were taking a cold shower was interesting. Have to keep your sense of humor. Happy trucking

I was on the road back in the mid 70s and you had to pay $3 each time you wanted a shower. Than I was back on the road from 2004 to 2006 and the showers were free and f you were a team they would put two showers on your fuel card every time you fueled. I am fixing to go back out on the road again and I understand that they are starting to charge anywhere from $10 to $15 for a shower. Can anyone clarify this for me?

Now every breed of truckstops have "fuel cards"..when you fuel, you give them your card, and they put points on it. So many gallons of fuel earns you a free shower....So if you run reasonably, theres no reason you need to pay for a shower, if you stop at the TS that you have a card with...Trust me, buy one of those little folding things to put your cards in them, you'll have dozens of them..lol.

The price I see most often is 13$. But if you fuel at love's. flyingj, petro, ta, or pilot, they all have the same rule. 50 gallons gets you a free shower. Most places use the 50 gallon mark. It's really easy to hit it. My dh and I run team and we seem to have more showers than we could ever use. I've actually given away showers to people who couldn't get into one because they didn't have the points, or whatever the reason. I figure, I earned them and to give them away isn't hurting me or the company. And it reduces the number of smelly people out there. :)

I do have to say I have had people think I don't shower frequently but my hair is oily the day after I shower. So unless I showered every day (which would make my skin dry out like a cracked desert) my hair always looks oily.

Mistelle, for your oily hair, have you tried corn starch ??/ you fluff it in at the roots, then brush it thru and out...it is a speedy fix for oily hair....I have used baby powder also, when I havent' washed my hair for weeks...yes weeks...cuz I HAVE NO OIL in my hair..so to keep it from getting brittle, I'll go awhile to let what oil I do have get to the ends....and my hair is past my butt..its a long trip...rofl-1.gif

And if they are not clean....you go complain.....I have done it...I won't use a dirty bathroom or shower...and since they get paid for the use, they have a responsibility to keep it clean. But most of them are super clean...they are all tile, and they hose them down, literally, with steam/hot water, after sanitizing...pretty nice.

I smiled when reading this.
