Here is probably a silly question for Daniel B. or anybody really......what is an LW truck in relation to a full size truck that you mentioned?
Thanks

LW means Light Weight...they are almost exclusively Freightliners...they have a somewhat smaller sleeper and use a lot more aluminum and fiberglass in their construction, thus saving several thousand pounds of weight off the GVW of the truck so you can load the trailer heavier and still be legal..
If you see a truck advertised as a 48" or 52" sleeper, thats a lightweight, compared to the 62" and 72" studio or apartment sleepers I gather.
Here, what you call a lightweight in the US is pretty much a standard sleeper truck, just a shelf behind the seats. Given a typical run would be only 2 or 3 nights a week away from home, there's just not the need for elaborate sleeping arrangements in the trucks.
I think Prime is a great company. My instructor is a company driver. He wants to be my tent trainer also. I should roll back to Springfield the week of the week 10th to Springfield to get my cal test and Lic.

Hope to see you there...I start orientation on the 10th.. any idea about why they moved up orientation to Monday from Tuesday???
No idea guy why they did that. Some of the guys in my class got there on Monday. If you have your permit when you get there you can try and get on the simulator. Stan that runs the psd program is a great guy. Just don't be late for any of the classes.
Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.
Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.
Great to hear you like Prime. I will be starting with them on the 17th. I did a bunch of searching and they have the best starting/training pay of any of the ones I looked into. You mentioned removing the seat in your LW truck, I had heard they did not have passenger seats. I have searched online for pics of them but cannot find any. Good to hear they are not as small as I feared, I am not a small guy.
@ Free Spirit - Good luck on your testing. I studied (not too hard) with the program here on TT, took my test and passed everything first try, even HAZMAT. Make sure to have an original birth certificate with state embossed stamp (raised imprint) on it.
Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations
The LW trucks come with a passenger seat. But most every driver gets it removed. There's just not enough room in the truck with a passenger seat and with it removed it really opens up the area.
I start class on the 10th. I drove out to it earlier today just to find it. Found it and walked in just to make my intro. I am ready to start.
