I leave for Prime training tomorrow. I hope I'm not sitting long past orientation.

Right now the waiting period is about a week. You will be joing about 100 others this week. We still have about 30 or 40 PSD students waiting on instructors.
Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.
Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.

If that holds true, I hope I will be ok then.

To bad about the hiring requirements of Prime. I would love to be a PSD trainer if I was to ever go back to running solo. That type of training is a lot less stressful since your only training and not driving. While you do have to be in the passenger seat while the student is driving at least you get to both sleep at night.

Exactly.
Even with a month of experience. The student is still clueless on how to truly drive as a professional. With the second phase of driving (TNT) you are to be team driving with the student. So you, the trainer, must drive nights usually and you can hardly ever watch the student drive. Trying to sleep in a moving truck operated by a driver with one month of driving experience is just not my cup of tea. I would much rather teach them from the ground up, watch them drive, and sleep peacefully at night.

Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.
The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.
The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14¢ per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.
Besides I love reading or listening to audio when I can't read. The long stretches across 40,70 and 80 would allow me to read a lot. Just fire up the olé smart phone and find something good to read or watch if your in a good area with cell signal.
There is only so much talking you can do and frankly if your talking and teaching a solid 10 hour drive shift don't be surprised if your student needs a break and decides to kill you in your sleep just to get a break from your talking.
Nothing says you have to watch the student like a hawk and you can do nothing but watch him or watch the road. Those long stretches WILL put a passenger or in this case a trainer to sleep. Trainers are human also and may take a cat nap in the passenger seat. Really hard to avoid that but the main point is the trainer is up next to the student and has fast access to the trainer if they need help with something or just a 2nd pair of eyes.

He's not documenting his experienced because we already have a very comprehensive Prime documentation done by a member named Steve. This was documented on our old forum but I transferred it into this new forum a few months ago.
