I was nervous as Heck on my test out day. I had done very well throughout school, but on test day, I was so nervous, I bombed my pre-trip. Yes, the very first test of three, I bombed. I felt like a moron. Anyway, I retested the next day and with the thought of what happened the day before still in my mind, I was able to get myself together and passed pre-trip, backing/parking and the road test. The "nerves" can chew you up, but you have to push through. Thankfully, the instructors did a great job of training us. Too bad they were not Psychiatrists also. Lol.
Prime works with the student until they know they can pass. They will have different instructors explain it in different ways to get through to the student. Not every verbiage is going to click with every student
Ex: "Steer towards the problem"
Well I saw a problem at both ends of the trailer. And depending on whether you are looking at the front of the trailer or the back makes a difference
If the back of the trailer needs to go right you turn left. But if the front of the trailer needs to go right you turn right which sends the back of the trailer left. I saw problems at both ends and didnt know which way to turn.
So I started asking "which way do I need the back of the trailer to go?" Turn opposite
"Which way do I need the front to go?" Turn the same.
Many local schools will charge extra for extra practice or testing so I personally think company sponsored is better. Stop being a defeatist.
Rainy is right. The school instructor's will keep working with students until they know they can pass the tests, especially if they see you are giving your best effort, but for some reason, things aren't "clicking yet." I know the instructors at CFI did. They were excellent. If you are having problems in any aspects of your training, you must speak up and let them know. Just understand that you have to take responsibility for your training; no one else will. My class had 15 students when we started. 6 of us made it. Some of those who did not make it through would not listen to the instructors and wanted to do things their way. Then, after being told they were being sent home, they grumbled that "they did not get the training they deserved" or other nonsense. Show initiative, stand up for your seat time and take the training seriously. You will be fine.
Thanks Y'all. Did my first backing today after 3 weeks not hoping into a truck. Did a straight line and of course did well. I back at least 100 feet. Ooowwee I kept my composure and made it in the box. And this is definitely going in my book of world record lol. I don't know what it is but as soon as I got in the truck it felt FREAKEN AMAZING. The best feeling ever. Made me realize how much I missed being in and around a semi. But I definitely got my confidence back after that. And what made my day amazing was I found out that the man (omg I forget what position he works in) that I talked to on yesterday who was beyond the nicest funniest dude ever,is actually the one who is going to test me out😃😃!!!! I can't wait to show yall my assigned truck and travel!!!! I'm beyond excited.

This is so true, took me awhile back in school to learn that. Shooo I was afraid about it happening again once I got in the truck. After I calmed down and got this amazing vibe in the truck. Nailed it.
Like PackRat mentioned, Positive Posts and positive thoughts!!!!
Congratulations on your backing, and your high level of confidence! It’s great that you’re familiar with the gentleman who will be testing you out; if there are any loose nerves, he’ll calm them. This is just a process. Another step towards the end goal. You’ll do absolutely fine. Looking forward to seeing you post your first photo of your nused truck.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Thanks Pete!! Yes my confidence sparked as soon as I got in the truck. Definitely can't wait to get back in there. I'm super super excited for the upcoming weeks.

Thanks guys!! Yeah I most definitely need to chill. Thank goodness I brought my gaming system with. Been taking to the exam yard or drop yard where we will be practicing the backing and hooking/unhooking the trailers. The skills consist of the offset,90, straight line, and a new one for me...the 45. But I'm starting to get my confidence back every day that I'm here. But will definitely keep y'all updated on my progress
