Just got word from my recruiter that I am officially hired on. Just waiting on my driver mentor to get ahold of me to coordinate pick up time and location at the orientation building here at the Dallas terminal.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Now you can really start getting excited. It's about to get real.

Well....it's real...I'm officially out with my driver mentor. We're stopped somewhere for the night...but on that note, this diary saga is over. It's time to learn everything I can out here on the road until I get my co-driver and then learn some more. Thank you guys for sticking with me for the beginning of this wild ride and I hope to see you out there.

Stay safe everyone.

Stop in the 'general' and shout once in awhile, as you can, or see fit, or have a question for!

BEST to you, going forward.. Super happy for you!!!

Ok, Optiman, congrats! Thanx for taking the time to keep us all apprised on the adventure of your run-up to the now, the 'getting real', as PackRat noted...which you seem already acutely aware of. I felt some disappointment to read "this diary saga is over", even a bit surprised, till I re-read the title you chose for it. Sure enough, you have precisely fulfilled your commitment. Selfishly speaking, I've got my CDL but am now behind you on the teaming trip, and you did a fine job of chronicling what it's been like so I'm hoping you'll find some time from the road to weigh in over the next weeks about what you're going through. Cuz hey, no matter what, you'll have some time when not driving or sleeping, and maybe doing some struggling with stuff. So how would you not wanna seek some support and advice from the savvy denizens here that so many of us benefit from?! But hey, no mater what, good luck and hope to see ya........

  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
