Here's my first truck in my first ever driving job! Great rig! The picture was shot in upstate NY around Massena (incase you were wondering Brett). My first week has been great so far consisting of Monday with a nice local run, an overnight from tuesday into wednesday in VT and NY, today off and going into RI tomorrow for a day. There's no way I can beat that kind of schedule. And I love this truck!!

That's awesome man! Glad things are off to a nice start for ya. Looks like a solid rig too. Perfect.

Are you gonna be off on weekends? What kind of schedule do you expect?

Yea Brett all of the equipment is top notch and well taken care of by both drivers and management. So that's a relief. As far as schedule goes it's a rotating schedule between the 13 drivers so everyone does every run. You end up getting to know all of the routes. So far they have around twenty runs that are day runs and around a dozen that are at least one overnight. The runs that go down into PA and further south your gone for a couple days. But weekends are totally off. With the exception on a VA run that gets you back on Saturday, but your back before noon and they usually give you the following Monday off because of it. They put you up in hotels and give you money for food when you go overnight. If gas is needed we just swing by the closest Ryder and get fueled up so no gas card if needed. All in all it's just a great set up. For me anyway. I still get plenty of home time with my family and get some good experience actually driving. I don't think I could have picked a better company to start my career with!

You have found a very good company and position it sounds like. For those not interested in being away for weeks at a time, you got it made. HOTELS paid for on overnights... jeez can you imagine how many OTR drivers would kill for that?

Good luck man. Make sure you take it easy, it is still winter and I am sure you have snow and ice up there still.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
