Yep Laura every year those Santa Anas come.....
Seen on cell, Fontana area if I-15 NB. Winds blew a rig over, typical for that stretch around Sierra Ave exit. Just as it comes around the canyon opening.
Have seen 7 to 10 rigs at 1 time all on their sides at once there....
Damn pack rat you be careful all of you be careful out there
40 is a mess! I left Grants, NM this morning and shut down in Amarillo. I had freezing rain, sleet, ice fog, snow, and 50+ mph wind gusts into, and out of, Albuquerque. The final 15 miles into the Petro was about a 20 mph crawl.
Here's some scenery I encountered from 50 to 20 miles west of Amarillo:
Check out the national weather radar. Huge storm heading east, so it's gonna suck no matter which way you travel for a couple of days.
Looks like I'm going to be taking i70 west. Colorado looks good for the next couple days. Whereas Albuquerque area on i40 has a storm warning through Wednesday. Possible 8-12 inches, plus windy. No thank you!
We should be clear and clean, Real Diehl. Temps supposed to be back into the fifties and sixties in... two days I think.
Denver & surrounding areas' roads cleared really well today, though I'm not sure how the mountains look. When are you rolling through?

Hi, Keith. We will hit Denver around this time (0400) tomorrow. Thanks for the update.
I hate 70. I would rather do 80. A lot more places to stop.
Be safe.
Im am still trapped in wind. Dust storm alerts until 1145.
I left Amarillo at 0230, still a slow move on I-40 east. Mostly sleet and freezing rain this morning, but the wind has died down a fraction since yesterday. Most of both lanes of travel are obscured by the snow. I'm in the slow lane at 45 mph tops.
No pictures since it's dark, but from Amarillo to the Oklahoma state line, 12 trucks jackknifed, in the ditch, or on their sides in the median.

I know where Muscoy is. When I lived in San Bernardino back in the sixties, we used to get those winds in the spring... they were known as the Santa Ana winds.
