Copy that thanks👍🏻👍🏻Will read tonight thank you for all the help

You're most welcome, Jammer!

I'm a fan . . . LoL~!!!

Was doing some reading of older threads (some of our 5'star ones from the past, that Brett may put together into a treasure trove!!! Yay!) and came across THIS one. It's long, it's epic, and it's just WOW. Moves quickly, so don't get the TL/DR panics... many MANY photos, tbh!

Check THIS out.... from our epic Daniel B. (The guy that made the phenom pretrip guide on here!)

A month of trucking with Daniel B.

Yeah, good stuff right there, man!

Keep on keeping on; and keep your head up, and on a swivel. I HATE winter driving as well; but seriously, you are safer in a rig...once you get the gist of it~!!

Leme know whatcha think, and...STAY SAFE!

Jammer, where in the south are you having to deal with snow already? Some of what you've said has inspired me to check into Western... Do they offer ANY teaming options? How about the transmissions? Looking forward to hearing how it goes for you. --E.Z.

Nah, Qualcomm's easy. Just remember, arrived at shipper when you get there to pick your load up. Loaded call before you leave once you're loaded. Arrived at consignee when you are dropping then empty call when you dropped and are empty. Those 4 are the majority of the messages you'll use then you can look the others over in your down time to familiarize yourself with them. Any questions about thangs and you just have to ask

Consignee:

The customer the freight is being delivered to. Also referred to as "the receiver". The shipper is the customer that is shipping the goods, the consignee is the customer receiving the goods.

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Hey y’all it’s jammer well I delivered my 1st load on my own and let me tell I feel like everything I’ve learned otr with my trainer went right out the window !!! Qaulcom giving me fits sent me to north Las Vegas where every road it sent me to get to drop off was closed and gated no way in I was goin nuts it sent me farther away as I kept goin I got ahold of a buddy that drives a truck he hit a rest stop and got on laptop guided me in using google earth as I don’t have laptop he saved my bacon but I feel dispatch should have known already but they got a lot on there plate I got dropped of at my. Terminal picked out my truck and off I went!! Almost lol I had to move 2 trailers to get to mine as it was blocked in ! So I moved trailer went to drop it and my dumb a$$ forgot to disconnect glad hands and pig tail and pulled the glad hands off the air lines🤨🤨 it was after 5 so mechanics and dm was gone so I sent the macro and I never made it out of the terminal 😔😔 thought all night stressing out that I was fired !! Special shout out to Georgia mike right here who magically texted me at that moment to check on me how my status with my own truck was goin?? I told him he calmed me down and was right my dm actually laughed at me and clapped me on the shoulder and said kid that’s the least thing that could of happened for me to worry about !! So I got another truck picked up and delivered and went to send in my bills and low an behold I forgot bubble sheets !!! Man I hope this gets better all my former employers to a t said how dependable a worker I am and I want to live up to that so more to follow

Hey y’all it’s been a heck of a ride my 1st week of orientation then straight to driver training ... I wanna start off with all the b.s you hear from people on the internet’s cry baby poor me complaints is just that ... if your willing to work and apply yourself the money 💰 s there so are the miles be honest with them completely ... everything me and my recruiter talked about has happened to the finest detail she has not strayed fibbed or steered me wrong 1inch we went thru my work history .. criminal back ground I told them everything this is key I told them everything... my past is pretty extensive they ran my background when I was talking on the phone next day I was told I was good to go I was on my way drug screen physicals everything was like clock work the only people that got sent home or hung up at the terminal were people who left pending cases out that popped up or thought I only smoke weed covered them !! It does not the ones who failed the physicals were literally drinking energy drinks smoking and were hung over 1 guy in particular thought it was his job to tell dm’s how stupid they were got sent home out of 50 of us 5 walked out of day 2 orientation with jobs and trainers waiting on us about6 more get held up because of demands they made on there trainers but they got situated 2 days later I’ve been from fonatana to Mississippi 2 time on my 2nd trip back to Fontana now doin my reset in Jackson Tennessee my trainer is very thorough and been a wealth of knowledge to me more to come thank you for listening lol be safe y’all Jammer

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
