Qaulcom giving me fits sent me to north Las Vegas where every road it sent me to get to drop off was closed and gated no way in I was goin nuts it sent me farther away as I kept goin I got ahold of a buddy that drives a truck he hit a rest stop and got on laptop guided me in using google earth as I don’t have laptop he saved my bacon but I feel dispatch should have known already but they got a lot on there plate I got dropped of at my. Terminal picked out my truck and off I went!! Almost lol I had to move 2 trailers to get to mine as it was blocked in ! So I moved trailer went to drop it and my dumb a$$ forgot to disconnect glad hands and pig tail and pulled the glad hands off the air lines🤨🤨 it was after 5 so mechanics and dm was gone so I sent the macro and I never made it out of the terminal 😔😔 thought all night stressing out that I was fired !! Special shout out to Georgia mike right here who magically texted me at that moment to check on me how my status with my own truck was goin?? I told him he calmed me down and was right my dm actually laughed at me and clapped me on the shoulder and said kid that’s the least thing that could of happened for me to worry about !! So I got another truck picked up and delivered and went to send in my bills and low an behold I forgot bubble sheets !!! Man I hope this gets better all my former employers to a t said how dependable a worker I am and I want to live up to that so more to follow
Hey y’all it’s been a heck of a ride my 1st week of orientation then straight to driver training ... I wanna start off with all the b.s you hear from people on the internet’s cry baby poor me complaints is just that ... if your willing to work and apply yourself the money 💰 s there so are the miles be honest with them completely ... everything me and my recruiter talked about has happened to the finest detail she has not strayed fibbed or steered me wrong 1inch we went thru my work history .. criminal back ground I told them everything this is key I told them everything... my past is pretty extensive they ran my background when I was talking on the phone next day I was told I was good to go I was on my way drug screen physicals everything was like clock work the only people that got sent home or hung up at the terminal were people who left pending cases out that popped up or thought I only smoke weed covered them !! It does not the ones who failed the physicals were literally drinking energy drinks smoking and were hung over 1 guy in particular thought it was his job to tell dm’s how stupid they were got sent home out of 50 of us 5 walked out of day 2 orientation with jobs and trainers waiting on us about6 more get held up because of demands they made on there trainers but they got situated 2 days later I’ve been from fonatana to Mississippi 2 time on my 2nd trip back to Fontana now doin my reset in Jackson Tennessee my trainer is very thorough and been a wealth of knowledge to me more to come thank you for listening lol be safe y’all Jammer
Ouch, rough start. When dropping a trailer always run 3 things through your head EVER TIME. Did I unplug (air and power lines), unhook (pull the kingpin lock) and landing gear down. When picking up a trailer the same 3 , plugged up, kingpin locked and landing gear up. Always make sure you question yourself every time. If you arent sure about anyone of them get out and recheck. Also make sure both fuel caps and the def cap are replaced every time and a biggie, check that you set the brakes every time before you exit the truck. Almost 2 years in and I still run these checks every single time.
What truck did you end up with?
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Jammer, I did the same thing with my solo load. Dropped the landing gear and was so nervous and in a rush I forgot to disconnect my lines . There was no damage , thank goodness but I took about 10 minutes to berate myself on how I almost got fired the first day. After that I did what was mentioned above and drop n hooked the EXACT same way every time and if there is ever a doubt I will get out and recheck. With Qualcomm I wrote a couple of cheat sheets and put on my dash. Which macros to send and when, reminder to certify my logs and send post trip macro at the end of the day. Etc..that helped me greatly as I have tbi and my memory is crap.
It happens, and your dm was correct. They see alot worse things all too often. Learning experience. Also when you encounter closed off roads, the shipping/receiving office of that customer can usually help you out getting into them.
I need to make me a cheat sheat thanks for the advice I’m not giving up I’m just gonna buckle down more and get it straight thank you pappaw
