I have about 2 hours until I get my rental car to start driving towards North Little Rock, AR to start Maverick Orientation tomorrow. A little apprehensive but it feels good to start a new career and not a job. I have not been this excited and scared at the same time since I joined the Navy back in '93.

Time for a new adventure.

Uhhh, sorry Anne, think you have the wrong guy. There are several training diaries from the last couple years for Maverick, but I never did one-there’s been so little drama in my trucking career, that a diary would just bore people.

Two things from my time in orientation that may help: be early-the only two guys dropped from my class showed up late the second day and that was the last time they showed up anywhere on the campus. And secondly, don’t stress, odds are you’ll make it-other than those two guys, everyone in my class made it solo. No one failed the physical or agility test. No one failed the securement test, though they kept a couple guys for an extra week. No one in my group failed their final test out, though again, they kept a couple guys for another week. Those instructors honestly want to see you succeed as much as you do. Drivers start dropping like flies once they are out on their own and reality sets in.

I think Robert H is our current Maverick resident.

Hi Benjamin, congratulations on starting with maverick. I have no doubt that you will enjoy working here. Don't sweat orientation, as andhe78 said they want you to succeed. I'm spending the night on the yard at little rock tonight, so might see you out there as I leave in the morning. Good luck and be safe out there.
