I am reading through all the regs and can't find what im looking for.. I have just received my CDL Class A. My question is if I want to rent a truck and trailer from a rental company and use it for personal use... Not for hire.. Am I still subject to following the Hours of Service and keeping a log. Any help would be great thanks.

I finally just called carrier enforcement in the state of nebraska. Per the officer if im using it for personal use Not for hire.. I do not have to follow the hours of service or keep a log, but I would have a tough time convincing the officer that im in fact a not for hire personal use vehicle and not a CMV of that if I get stopped. Sorry to post a thread only to find my answer 10 mins later. But I hope this helps anyone that is thinking about using a tractor trailer combo for personal use.
