The uboltz that hold the Morgan box are so long 16 inches that the spring in the steel make impact wrenches or cheater bars on the nut ineffective. I have a socket that fits on their really well, the bolt is just so long if flexes before the nut turns or absorbs all of the impact wrench action. Anyone have any tips for getting that to torque with an impact gun?

It's a brand of a box truck; all I know. Hubby said the same as you; PB Blast it (w/a good impact gun) at the point of origin.

If those don't work, you may need to add some heat to it.

Easiest way to prevent this is to put anti-seize compound on the fasteners during the installation.

Anne is on her game today! Morgan is indeed a manufacturer of "Box Truck Bodies." I have delivered plenty of aluminum extrusions to their facilities.

Similar problems working on farm equipment when I was growing up.
If you have room, pair of Vise Grips on the U-bolt shaft, as close to the nut as possible. Clamp 'em on and wrench away. Might have to replace the U-bolt if the Grips chew it up any.
And fully agree with the anti-seize when tightening it back up.

Good luck, Bill R.

Do you know how many pairs of vise grips were found years later, on the farm equipment around here? Permanent fix to a temporary problem, hahaha!

If Amazon Prime existed 'back in the day' I'd have put 'new' ones on autoship, for the hubby, haha!

PackRat ... another thing, Tom said.. was a torch. Not the 'wisest' imho .. but then again, I'm sure you've improvised the 'warmth' as has he, haha! NeverSeez ... is a must have; It's a stocking stuffer at my house~! Kid keeps stealing the dads... sheesh!!
