I’m taking my 10 at the Love’s on US 24 on Woodburn, Ind. Anyone else here? I’ll be ready for a meal in about an hour. I’d love to sit quietly and learn some stuff...

You can use the TT Tracker to see where other drivers last logged in, and when. A majority of the regulars have this option enabled.

Rob, when I see you've posted, you're on of the maybe 3 whose I almost always open cuz it's almost always helpful... Dunno how you find the time, but you're providing quite a service...hopefully not too much at the expense of the rest of your life!(?)

So as to this topic I've been wondering about this and have failed to find the answer, but thinking I'm overlooking a cool feature Brett built in... I assume once we've located someone in the vicinity, the natural next step is to "private message" ("PM"? them)... How exactly, what have we missed?

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Once you've located someone on the Trucker Tracker you just put a message in the forum for them to respond to. Then you can work out the logistics of meeting up with each other. We had to stop allowing private messages between members because it was being misused. People were taking their conversations offline. We want to keep things here in the forum whenever possible. The whole purpose of the forum is to provide conversations for people to learn from. When so many conversations were going on offline we had to take measures to try and keep people from abusing the private messaging.

Why thank you! Typically a majority of my time on TT is while I'm on break or waiting to be loaded/unloaded. I pop on quite a bit when I'm home but don't respond as much since the kids wanna play not understanding I just worked through the wee hours of the morning.

Old School is spot on (as always). In the past I've just created a thread with the persons name in the subject line. Too many people were sending private messages asking for specific information or thinking their situation was special but there were dozens if not more people that would have benefitted from seeing it. We also unfortunately had people trying to get referral bonuses. When somebody can financially benefit its difficult to know if they're genuinely being helpful or if they're feeding you bullcrap only caring about the money they'll gain if you get hired with that carrier. Money has a way of influencing peoples decisions and honesty.
