I'm interested in see what folks have to say here.
Me personally? I'll get it as soon as I'm eligible. I'll be the your lab rat if you're worried. The sooner we can get through this, the better. Hopefully in 2022, we can all sit back, remember those we lost, and laugh about the ridiculous situations this virus put us in.
Well - since my personal physician (who is an infectious disease specialist) says he isn't getting HIS until the summer - to see how it works out vis-a-vis side effect/etc.
I'm going to WAIT.
Though the things I'm hearing about - with regards to making it mandatory, may use DOT as a "regulatory enforcement agency" - no air travel, trains, etc. And due to the travel and contact risk on truckers - it may become mandatory there too.
Many docs are concerned that people won't come back for the second dose, due to the side effects (that EVERYONE GETS to a varying degree). they are also recommending planning on taking a DAY OFF after the second dose, because the side effects of the second are worse than the first.
I don't do flu/etc. vaccines - EVER. Not because I am some "anti-vaxxer" type - but because a decent immune system will fight them off, and even vaccinated people get the flu. It is likely to be THE SAME with C-19. This 95% effective is a BUNCH OF CRAP. There hasn't been enough of a timeline to establish it's effectiveness. And, despite the brave folks that volunteered - I don't see thousands of people risking DEATH to be exposed to a CONFIRMED INFECTIOUS SUBSTANCE, in order to test efficacy.
High - take these two shots - THEN - we're going to shoot you up with REAL COVID. NAHHH.
So the effectiveness is an actual crapshoot at best. And they have NO IDEA how long immunity will last. They don't know f people that have recovered from a C-19+ test/exposure ACTUALLY HAVE IMMUNITY - or how long that will last either. Being that the MECHANISM FOR VACCINES is to create an IMMUNE RESPONSE to fight further contact/infection - the fact of the matter is - with something THIS NEW - there is MORE WE DO NOT KNOW, than WE DO KNOW.
So I'm just going to take a wait and see.

I'll wait on it. I'm not in an at risk age group and I don't have any preexisting conditions. I don't interact with anyone that has preexisting conditions or in an at risk age group.
I've never had the flu and I've never taken a flu shot, except for the one time. When my son was born, his doctor urged my wife and I to get the flu shot for his safety. I reluctantly agreed and I landed in the hospital for 2 days with a fever and respiratory issues. Never again.
I too only got a flu shot 1 time in my life, and that was the only time I got the flu. I too have no health issues and will not be taking the c-19 shots. I don’t want too seem paranoid, but as a general rule I stay healthy when I stay away from dr’s.
NO for me.
We have no idea of the long-term effects. Every other day there's a new "lawyer commercial" on the TV or radio with a class action suit against some wonder drug that cured everything a year ago. Until people starting dying from various side effects, that wonder drug was miraculous.
I had Covid early last spring, so I would think I have antibodies built up for resistance now.
If it's mandatory I'll have no issues about getting vaccinated. If it's not mandatory I probably won't go out of my to get vaccinated. That's me: "...Any way the wind blows...".
I'll certainly not try to tell people what is best for them. Im not a doctor.
There was a long radio interview this morning with a vaccine expert on the FDA panel that’s approving the first vaccine for rapid deployment in the U.S. Looks like it’ll start rapid roll-out early next week. There’s logistical challenges like the “lipid nano-particles” in it (rather than the “messenger RNA”, the “active ingredient”) only being able to scale up and mass produce so fast (I’m not sure about the other vaccines that are close behind, but what a totally unprecedented huge job to make many millions of any of them fast). Also there’s the key unknown of how many citizens will opt out vs in and how soon. He’s convincingly optimistic about its potential for the country to put the COVID nightmare behind us next year. BUT, he’s talking “next FALL” before that actually happens… Meaning IF there’s a 2/3 to 3/4 of the national population getting the two shots by then, we’re what, only about halfway through this as of now?!.. Many have mixed feelings about it all, so I’m naturally wondering if anyone here’s inclined to answer the questions…
1) About the “opt out vs in” issue, how do you folks feel about getting yourselves vaccinated and ASAP?
2) About the “ASAP”, we’ve read here that the trucking industry, especially assumedly the drivers, may be included relatively early on the list of who can get the vaccine. Industry advocate groups seem to strongly support that. (The mainstream news mostly doesn’t mention truckers on the early priority lists I’ve heard so far though.) So what do you think of this…
a) Should truckers in particular jump at that chance? b) Do you think most of the carriers will actually make it mandatory for their drivers to do so? c) Should they?
Any other thoughts and opinions on what it's gonna take to get past this complex crisis?
The Army shot me up with all kinds of stuff for years, to include flu shots every year.
I have no problem with taking it when available.

I'd rather take it sooner rather than later. This year has been bull**** and I'm probably going to be reading about the legendary chain of ****ups for the rest of my life.
That being said, given that same chain of ****ups I don't expect I'll even be able to get the bloody thing until at the earliest summer of next year.
I have the same views as a lot of Americans. I might get it if it is mandatory but otherwise I'll wait and see. I see this new vaccine like a new model car. You always want to wait for the next year or two on that so they can work the bugs out. Besides. If all y'all get it I shouldn't need it as there would be a severely reduced risk of contact with it since we ALL wear masks, wash our hands and use sanitizer...right? Since I'm being told masks are effective...but covid cases are higher now than ever...and everyone's wearing masks, hand washing and using sanitizer...wait a minute.... Seriously though, I've had the flu once, I think I nearly boiled my brain as it hit me HARD. I was alone and managed to eventually crawl to the tylenol, took 5 or 6 500mg tablets and an hour later crawled to find the thermometer, my temp was down to 105.1. I've never had a flu shot nor do I want one. Once the covid19 vaccines have been around a while, if covid is still an issue I might get one once the side effects are better known. Now my views are not paranoia or conspiracy theories driven as I don't think it's a mind control substance nor is it a mistrust of the government or medical field or whatever as I don't think they are out to get us but it's more of a self preservation issue. I dont like having substances with unknown side affects placed in me. I do however believe fully in the efficacy of these vaccines and believe you should all get vaccinated asap.
If given a choice I would happily take the vaccine China is giving their people, after all, China created covid19 and released it into the world just to see how effective viruses would be as a weapon nowadays, do you really think they managed to have super low infection rates because of their lockdowns, masks, hand sanitizer and washing while having to enforce these lockdowns on 1.5 Billion people? I doubt it, they wouldn't have released it without having a vaccine already tested and available.
